James was great! He’s very funny and extremely knowledgeable about the history of Scotland and Whiskey. What I liked most is he tried to gauge beforehand what type of whiskey I liked, and tried to cater the tasting to my liking. Venue and history of the building was very cool as well.

We had the best time learning about different scotches from various regions of Scotland. Patch was phenomenal and was funny, too. We loved this historical setting and experience. Bonus, we loved interacting with others on the tour. Highly recommend!

Sarah led us through some very nice tastings on our experience in the lost close. She was knowledgeable about the whisky’s we tried and made it a fun event for us. We enjoyed some of the private label whisky they had on hand.

This whisky tasting was incredible... AND in an incredible location! James was our guide that night for the intermediate tasting, and he was great! Really friendly and easy to get along with... as well as super knowledge on the products and industry at large. I would HIGHLY recommend doing this!

This was an incredibly fun outing! My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the intimate setting in the vault as we learned and tasted various whiskies from the different regions in Scotland. Our host James was excellent and really catered the experience to the small group, which was exactly what we were looking for. Highly suggest, and should we ever spend more time in Edinburgh we would absolutely do this again.

Not informative, fun or interesting. We paid a lot of money and didn’t feel we got our moneys worth. The vault was pretty much a basement, nothing special.

Sarah was fantastic - so knowledgeable and so personable! She made our tasting one of our top experiences in Edinburgh, and The Lost Close ambience only added to the experience! Highly recommend to anyone who wants a memorable higher-end whisky tasting!

This is a must-do activity! We were treated to a quintet of impossible-to-find whiskies from all Scottish distillery regions, catered to our taste preferences. James was a very congenial and knowledgeable host, taking us down into The Lost Close and regaling us with humor and insights into the history of Scotch and Edinburgh.
The whiskies were fabulous and it was so much fun to do this with a geographically diverse group and compare tasting notes. Lots of laughs and no pretentiousness!!
Many thanks to James who provided an alternative means to access the Close for my step-challenged wife!
Absolutely highly recommended!!
