Camille was our dive instructor who made this a great experience. The water had great visibility and we saw lots of beautiful coral structure and fish. Only suggestion is if you are not staying in Cozumel, the dive starts 45mins past what the booking time states so plan your ferry home accordingly. Our 12pm dive started at approx 12:45 and finished at 4:45. If I could do this trip over, i would still rebook and highly recommend.

Getting there (this is not clear from the details in this listing, so adding them here in the hopes that it'll help someone):
- If you're coming from the mainland you'll need to get a ferry that costs about $15-20 per person, each way. You'll find a lot of resellers as you walk towards the ferry who only take cash, but you can pay with credit card at the actual ferry building. The ferry takes about 40 mins to get to the island.
- Once you're on the island, you need to pay $20 / 300 pesos for a taxi to get to the dive shop. Taxis on the island only take CASH according to our driver, so make sure you're prepared, since hitting the ATM cost us a good 10-15 mins. The taxi takes about 25 mins to get to the dive shop.
- When we got to the dive shop the security at the gate of the hotel (the dive shop is in the hotel) wouldn't let the taxi into the hotel, even though the shop owner later on told us that they should've let us through. From the side gate, it's about a 5-10 min walk to the dive shop, so be prepared for this.

Pre-scuba diving:
- The equipment rental process was smooth, and we got gear that fit us well.
- Our scuba guide was a younger gentlemen who spoke decent English and gave us a decent briefing at the beginning and mid-way through the boat ride. That said, he wasn't around otherwise. I've been on tours where the guides are a little more engaging and attentive.
- The tank and BCD weren't set up for us so we had to assemble it ourselves, which I personally hadn't done in a while, since most companies do it for you. While inconvenient in one respect, it was a good refresher and there were some other divers on the boat who were willing to guide us.
- The boat was fairly packed after we picked up a handful of folks from another location. This made the set up piece a little more challenging since there wasn't as much space to prep or sit (probably not an issue if you're an experienced diver though).

Scuba diving:
- In the water, our guide showed us a decent amount of stuff, and the visibility in the area was great. Saw some sting rays, eels, crabs, and a variety of colorful fish.
- My partner had issues with her weights, and one of the other divers had to go up about half way through, and the guide handled both those situations in an experienced manner.
- We only did one dive since my partner wasn't feeling great after the first one.

Pricing:
- Pricing was on par with what other shops were charging.

Last words:
- I felt somewhat rushed getting to the dive shop, so I would recommend taking an earlier ferry and spending some time in the downtown Cozumel area for a bit before heading over to the dive shop.

I am a travel agent and a certified scuba diver. I've been all over the Caribbean and have plenty of dives under my belt, having worked with many dive operators.

I booked this excursion since we were on a cruise and there were no options through the cruise line to book a two tank dive through them. I've booked several excursions through Viator before and NEVER have I had an issue with a tour operator like I had with this dive operation - which is Pro Dive International Occidental Cozumel.

I should mention that when I booked the excursion it listed a start time of 12:00 and said it would be a 4 hour excursion. Our ship was due to leave port that day at 5:00 which meant we had to be back on the ship by 4:30. I knew it was going to be tight but I figured we could make it work. I hadn't heard anything from them about the trip so I reached out to them while on our cruise and they didn't respond until the DAY OF THE DIVE. They told me that the tour was actually closer to 5 or 5 and a half hours long and that we wouldn't be back to the dive shop until about 5 or 5:30 (and the dive shop is about a half hour away from the cruise port). I told them that would not work then and asked to cancel my reservation and refund my money I'd paid for myself, my sister, and my daughter.... and they said NO! I would have had to cancel 24 hours before the trip in order to get my money back - but they didn't return any of my messages until the morning of the dive!!! They also said they supposedly had sent me an email after I booked asking about where we were staying and whatnot because if they knew THEN that we were coming in on a cruise they could have told me that we would not be back in time. But I never got any messages or emails from them!

Okay fine - what about just a single tank dive? Can we do a single tank and be back at the dive shop in time to get us in a taxi and back to the cruise port? They couldn't guarantee it. Apparently it all depends on the boat - and apparently the boat had gone out about an hour late that morning. I was thinking it over and asked them if we did just the one tank dive would the do a partial refund. NOPE! They were not willing to give even just a little bit!

***Did I forget to mention that through all these text messages that were going back and forth they kept asking us to tell them what we were going to do - because if we weren't going to do our dive(s) that day they wanted to be able to sell our seats on the boat to other divers?? Yeah, so they could KEEP OUR MONEY - AND - sell our seats to other divers - essentially making twice the amount of money for our three spots on the boat. How greedy and selfish is that????

I asked to speak to the manager and was told there was no manager. (Apparently I was speaking to a "sales agent"). I asked for the owner - was told he was not there as well. I asked for a way to contact the owner and was given a generic info@blahblahblah.com email address.

So frustrated with that whole operation! I absolutely will NEVER send any of my clients to them for any of their dives.

This was my first time diving in Cozumel and I had a fantastic time with the team here. Before one of my dives my personal equipment had a malfunction (burst O-Ring on the first stage). I was given rental equipment to use for the dive, and afterwards the shop fixed my regulator, all for no charge. Our guide, Javi Torres, is truly passionate about both diving and the marine ecosystem. His wealth of knowledge and confidence while diving really brought our experience to the next level.

I’d just been certified and my wife finished her certification on this trip so we’re beginners. That being said Javier Torres and Danny Whitmore were amazing to work with and instilled confidence in both of us! My wife even ended up having a medical emergency while we were diving and they were prepared and well trained to deal with it appropriately. The entire team was helpful, professional and great to work with. Can’t recommend them enough!

Edgar and.Carla were extremely knowledgeable and helpful during the planning phase of our dive trip. My 17 year old daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our 2 tank excursion. Ana took us to San Francisco Reef on the first dive which was and extremely relaxing wall/drift dive. We then went to Bolones de Chankanab where we saw many lobsters and a nurse shark. It was an amazing experience! Highly recommend!
