Etna Alcantara tour is the experience to discover two totally different types of lava landscapes. The first part of the day will take you to the northern side of Mt. Etna at 6500 ft above sea level. Here you will learn about the stages that led to the origin of Mt. Etna and the different types of volcanic activities all hiking up to the edge of some of the extinct craters formed by ancient eruptions.
In the second part of the Etna Alcantara tour, you will visit the Alcantara Valley where the Alcantara River has shaped the famous basaltic lava canyon formed by prehistoric lava flows of Mount Etna. Here you will spend some times by the River, having the possibility to go in the cold water, admiring outstanding geological formations.
Don't forget to bring with you: sunscreen, hat, hiking shoes. Water shoes, swimsuits and towels will be useful if you plan to go in the water (in the summertime).

This was an amazing once in a lifetime experience that I would highly recommend! It doesn’t matter your fitness level because the guide takes breaks along the way and it’s not more than 2 miles with only 900’ elevation gain. There’s also an easy hike option versus a harder hike option so anyone can do it. We pregamed with the best cannolis I’ve ever had to fuel our hike and then had an amazing Sicilian lunch afterwards. Our tour guide Sara did such a great job and taught me a lot about volcanos, local traditions, the culture, etc. They also guaranteed us back to our port with plenty of time to spare. The convenience of the pick up and drop off right at the port was great!

From the moment they picked us up at the port to the moment they dropped us off, the entire experience was phenomenal! Sicily is an incredibly beautiful and diverse island and we got to see the highlights in all the best ways! The drive to Mt Etna was filled with interesting tidbits about the island and culture of Sicily as well as a stop for delicious cannolis! The hike itself had stunning views but I also learned so much about volcanos and rocks and the recent eruption in 2002. We then got to visit the Alcantara River which was beautiful. We finished by stopping at a recommended bakery for local goodies. So many laughs, incredible pictures and an overall awesome experience! I would do it again in a heartbeat!

Sara & giocomo are STELLAR. We had so much fun hiking mount aetna, eating the BEST canollis I've ever had, and seeing some of the most beautiful scenery with really incredible company. We saw the north side of Aetna & the 2002 craters & the alcantara river for lunch. So beautiful, so much fun, & the guides were just the right amount of content. 6/10 physical fitness level I would estimate as Aetna is of course up hill about 3.25 miles round trip total. Enjoyed every minute of it and will be back to explore more with Sara & giocomo. 10/10 would recommend this excursion!!!
