Don't waste your time in Messina doing this city tour. The only thing we saw worth of visiting was the cathedral. You will be better off going to visit Mount Etna, or the countryside.

Chiara was very informative and told us a lot of details that we never would have known if we ventured on our own. She timed the tour perfectly for us to catch the 12:00pm once-daily show at Piazza Duomo. We had a great cannoli or Italian ice included from a local bakery per ticket. Great tour!!

Good tour of core area, ending at the noon clock tower performance. Perfect short duration if you have a 8-9 hour cruise ship stop.

Our group went into Messina City tour with high expectations. We found this particular tour did not turn out to be as we had hoped.
This created a larger group of people. The guide did not make sure all of the people were caught up with her before moving on due to the fact we were crowded together on the sidewalk. The tour had 18 people although it stated no more than 16 in the details of the tour description.

The tour guide was speaking in 2 different languages with a small number of people that were added late. The tour description only listed one language for the tour. The issue was with every item being explained in 2 languages, it took much longer to get through information. It was easy to lose track of who was being talked to at any given time and therefore was often confusing. Unfortunately, this add on group monopolized the guides time with a different language that the remaining 13 could not understand.

The city tour left us with little viewing of the city. We did not get more than 3 blocks away from the cruise ship. We did not see very much of this vast area. 2 fountains, 2 churches (others in the background), puppet museum, and a sweet treat.

Overall, we were disappointed.

We did not know what to do when the cruise shipped docked at Messina. So I booked a walking tour, what a great choice. Our tour guide was knowledgable, friendly and gave us a really nice flavor of the city. And the best part when we were done my family and I headed off for lunch and our tour guide ended up joining us and we had the best time. I would totally do this again given the opportunity.

Shocked 😮 that an English tour suddenly turned into an English and Italian speaking tour.
On a cruise and everyday went on walking tours with Guru Walk. Great knowledgeable tours. This 2.5 hour tour was limited because of the wasted time in communicating in 2 languages.
Simply don’t waste your money.
Viator normally your tours have been good, but this was a huge disappointment since we had Guru Walk experience.

From the Cruise port, simply walk into the town and take a left turn after 100 yards. Continue along the road for two minutes until the road opens in to a square. Here you will find the Messina Duomo Cathedral, be certain to be in the square in front of the Messina Duomo Cathedral at noon.

Prepare yourself for an engrossing twelve minutes amongst a throng of people just like yourself who have come to see the famous mechanical and astronomical clock in the church’s bell tower. This clock, designed by Ungerer of Strasbourg, France, is the largest and most complex clock of its kind in the world.
Also worth a trip for €15.00 per person is the tourist train. This will take you around the City and lasts for one hour.

Church bell tower at noon. Guide later recommended a nice lunch choice and we climbed up inside the bell tower.
