Visit the first wonder of Colombia, "The Salt Cathedral of Zipaquira and the cradle of the Legend of El Dorado, the Sacred Lagoon of Guatavita" this is a full-day tour departing from your accommodation in Bogota. Explore the beauty of this unique subway cathedral; the story is told through an audio guide in the language of your choice. Upon arrival in Guatavita, enjoy a nature walk of approximately two hours to the Guatavita Lagoon.
After a two-hour nature walk to the Guatavitá Lagoon, where the local guide will share with you the history of the Muiscas Indians and the legend of El Dorado. Meet the village of Guatavitá and the view of the reservoir of Tominé halfway through the tour tasting a typical regional or vegetarian lunch. At the end of the tour we return to your accommodation in Bogota.

Very good and complete tour. Highly recommended because you get to see two amazing places in one day. Our guide Esteban and driver Emilio were good, friendly and knowledgeable, and I appreciate the fact they did not try to sell you stuff plus Esteban had raincoats for us at the Laguna which came in handy. Lunch provided was tasty. All very good!

Our guide Esteban was absolutely amazing! We started our adventure at the Guatavita Lagoon. Esteban was so knowledgeable about the area and our park's guide helped us identify the flora around this spectacular place! The hike up to the lagoon is filled with wonderful views and fantastic information about the floral that is indigenous to the area. We need to preserve this! We were totally Wowed! We were able to taste some of the local snacks with an incredible lunch as well! Upon arrival at the Zipaquira Salt Cathedral, Esteban was very clear on how we would navigate this site on our own and would meet us at the end. He helped us understand the history and how important this site is to the Colombian people. This site is well worth a visit! We were Wowed all over again! I would highly recommend this tour and Esteban!

Even if, like us, you are not religious, this cathedral is a must-see if you are near Bogota. It is quite amazing to see what the miners managed to recreate in this place. From the Stations of the Cross to the cathedral where a small sound and light show takes place (There is another more interesting one later which traces the history of the place and the region). Without forgetting, of course, the “temple merchants” =) and their salt souvenirs. Possibility of having a guided tour or using an audio guide in French.

Our guide and driver were the nicest people. Camila was very knowledgeable and Guillermo made us feel safe through Bogotá traffic.
The hike to the lagoon was beautiful and was the highlight of the day.

It was a wonderful trip to the laguna de CACIQUE! Everything is well organized and you you will get a lot of information concerng the muisca! The Salt cathedral is interesting as well - but its more like a Party- at least on a sunday ! They even had a Band playing music there! But its nice!

A great day made even better by the attention we received from Camila and Emilio. Camila is very knowledgeable and took her time to explain everything from the Colombian history to the Fauna and Flora encountered in Guatavita Lagoon.
The Salt Cathedral is a must see when visiting Colombia, it is just simply majestic, we will both remember this trip for many years to come.

Loved both the Guatavita Lagoon and the Zipaquira Salt Cathedral. It was interesting to learn about the history of the Guatavita Lagoon area and about Muisca culture and mythology. The three naves of the Salt Cathedral were a sight to behold. Our guide, Alejandra, did a terrific job of translating the ranger's presentation at Guatavita Lagoon. Alejandra and our driver, Emilio, both took very good care of us and made sure our needs were attended to.
