This has to be one of the best cultural tour I’ve been on.Firstly we had the best tour guide, Robinson was lovely from the first moment we met him.He made us feel super comfortable, gave us great knowledge about Dominican Republic and made our tour extremely fun.The tour included so many different activities and was worth every penny.
“No blah blah, no Mickey Mouse, no fantasy”just the real DR!

Sandi (the driver) was very cautious and got us to our destination in a timely manner. They picked us up right from the lobby. The tour guide, robozo was very entertaining and fun. It is a longer excursion. Took us about 9 hours in total including transportation. They provided water and drinks. The authentic Dominican food was amazing. Overall it was a very good excursion to learn about the Dominican culture

It was great to be able to see how people live outside the resort. I have become increasingly interested in the Dominican Republic. Robinson is an exceptionally attentive and excellent tour guide.

Wife getting kicked by horse. Very bad experience to many people and horses all bunched up together. They did nothing when it happened and brought ice when she got off. Have heard nothing from them since but will have an attorney contacting them since they choose to not contact me.

It was great. Sandi, the driver was very nice, the tour guide that we met in Higuey! Franklyn was amazing. He provided information about the places, he was nice answering all questions, gave us water, he was funny and create a nice environment for the whole tour. We made the tour as it was indicated, visiting the cathedral, the market, the river, visiting the local places for coffee and cacao tasting and cigars manufacturing. We enjoyed our day with Sandi and Franklyn, with beautiful landscapes during the day.
For improving: despite is a cultural tour, the agency should inform in advance that the tour include a horse ride. I was not properly dressed.

One word to describe “Robinson” the tour guide and “Sandi” the driver is-AMAZING! Robinson was people friendly, engaging, well spoken, treated us like family….He catered us to some authentic “Dominican” food that was way better than the resort;) No “Mickey Mouse” with this tour it’s the real deal ;)

The first thing I’ll say is be prepared to spend the entire day on this excursion. There were a few things that happened during the excursion that group on a time, crunch, or not, as easy-going might have been annoyed about, but we were there for the experience, and enjoyed every moment of it. Our pick up time was7:00am, they picked us up at 7:20 (they were running late, but so were we, and they so graciously circled back to come get us after we weren’t outside at 7:15 when they initially arrived) it was not until 8 AM that we were done picking up all of the guest and were making our way towards our first stop. We really enjoyed that there was only 15 people on this tour. It made the experience intimate, and the bus didn’t feel crowded.
Our first stop was horseback, riding on a ranch. Essentially just went in a circle around the ranch. There were two very cute baby goats. The experience was… Interesting. For a group that hasn’t written horseback before I will say it was a little scary, and funny at times when the horses would go off the path or randomly speed up. But I did ultimately feel safe, as the ranchers would assist when they needed to.
Our next stop was the Basilica. Just a warning that we don’t spend much time at each location. Part of the experience is driving through the city and seeing the people.
This is where we met our wonderful tour guide Franklin. He was funny and knowledgeable throughout the entire tour. He also apparently speaks five languages! We got a little history about the Basilica and were free to explore and take pictures. Ladies, whose dresses or shorts were too far above their knees, had to wear a wrap around their legs.
Next was the city of Higüey. We went to a souvenir shop and the fresh market. The market was one of the most immersive experiences. Different vendors were butchering meat, pig heads where sitting on tables, flies were everywhere there were chickens in cages and the smell was very… interesting. Thankfully, we just walked through. I’m glad to experience it, but I will say, this may be an experience that some people would decide to do without. Definitely wear sneakers.
Next we went to a Dominican buffet. The food was OK. Nothing astounding. The fresh fruit and sweet potatoes were our favorites. There was a beautiful running river in the back where we got to take pictures.
Next we traveled to a “typical Dominican wooden house.” The drive there was beautiful as we passed by mountains, mango, avocado, and banana trees, and livestock. When we got there, we toured the small home, then went to the back where the family has Coco trees. After watching a demonstration of how Cocoa powder is made, we have the option of buying fresh coffee beans, cocoa beans, cocoa butter, and cocoa shells to make tea.
By this time we were getting pretty tired, and the heat was bearing down on us. But all of us were grateful to get to be so immersed in the Dominican culture.
Next was a cigar factory. We got a demonstration of how the cigars were made and the opportunity to make our own and shop in the shop.
We rounded off the trip with a visit to Macau beach. It was crowded. There was a lot of people trying to sell you things. By this time we were all ready to go home, but it was nice to see it nonetheless.
Bottled water was always free throughout the experience.
All that was left was to drop everyone off. Once again, it was nice to travel through the DR.
We got to our condo around 4. Shout out to Franklin for his energy and knowledge he really made the experience worthwhile.
