The tour will head north on US 191 passing the entrance of Arches National Park which was designated as a National Monument before being changed to a National Park in 1971. Our special use permit allows us to enter the back door to Arches via Willow Springs Road. Along this backcountry route, you'll travel through the new area of the "Utah Raptor State Park". Here where Native Americans lived back in history for thousands of years you'll see dinosaur tracks and enjoy the views of the La Sal Mountains. The Park lies atop an underground salt bed that is responsible for the arches, spires, and sandstone fins. Several of the stops include Eye of the Whale(Backcountry), Balanced Rock(Pavement), Sand Dune Arch(Pavement), Delicate Arche Viewpoint(Pavement), and the Windows Section(Pavement). The trip length is approximately 4 hours duration. All vehicles are Jeep Rubicons which are enclosed and air-conditioned.

This was an unbelievable way to spend 1/2 day at Arches. We voided all the crowds thanks to Ric for knowing the back roads and saw many Arches and even the dinosaur prints. It was 100 degrees so having AC in the jeep was very welcomed. It is a bumpy ride but worth it to see beautiful scenery

Grandparents with an 8 year old. We did the Arches backcountry adventure with Karl as our guide. Karl was extremely knowledgeable about the geological history of the area. The morning was broken up with a couple of short hikes and shorter walks to some hidden gems. At a couple of the arches we were the only visitors in the area. Though 2 of us didn’t have proper shoes, we still managed to get where we needed to go but that said, bring good hiking shoes or trainers. Karl shared many of his experiences from his years in Moab. And he took many pictures of our group. We had so much fun and enjoyed the entire morning! We highly recommend Adrift Adventures. Ask for Karl as your backcountry guide. It was an unforgettable experience.

Our guide Mark was very friendly and knowledgeable. Had a 7 am trip into Arches National Park. Coming in from the back of park we saw prairie dogs, coyotes and lots of pronghorn. Stopped at several different arches in the back country. Mark and our grandson walked to Whales Eye and explained a lot of information to him. We have used Adrift Adventure before several years ago and would recommend.

Words and pictures do not do this tour justice. We had Ric Ortera as our guide and he was phenomenal. Great history of the park and fantastic person. Made our tour so entertaining! Felt like we gained a friend by the end of the tour! Highly recommend!

Mark was our tour guide and took us on an amazing adventure! He was knowledgeable, respectful, and gracious. The backcountry experience with the new jeep was one we will never forget. We have no idea how he maneuvered some of the crazy spots on the trail! We highly recommend this tour company. Mike, the owner was also great. Thanks for a memorable experience.

We really enjoyed our Arches Backcountry Tour with Jack W., our guide! It was our first visit to the Arches N.P. , and Jack made this a wonderful introduction to the park for us. Offered the choice between a ’regular’ Arches tour or one focusing more on the backcountry i.e. offroad areas of the park, we opted for the latter and were richly rewarded by also getting to see (and take photos of) hidden gems such as Tower Arch and Eye of the Whale, we wouldn’t have been able to see on our own. The offroad experience was a lot of fun (even a bit of rock crawling) and we always felt safe with Jack. As the sun began to set, being in this amazing landscape was truly magical! It was also great all the information and fun facts Jack gave us about the park, and lots of tips for exploring Arches on our own, since we were going to visit the park again the next day. – We can highly recommend this tour with Jack!

I loved our trip. Karl was one of three guides and an expert at handling the 4x4 on some fun and very bumpy back roads. My 80+ year-old folks have an adventurous streak and enjoyed it, too. We got to corners of the park that my car would never have reached. All three guides (Mark and Ric, too) were knowledgeable and attentive to my Mum, whose mobility is a little limited, so she stayed with the Jeeps in one place. We went back to the park with the rental car on the main roads later that day, but it was the morning that really stuck with us - such beauty and the small group gave us a sense of being with alone nature that's impossible in the more traveled areas.

We were upset when we discovered the Arches National Park passes were sold out. Our plan "B" was to use some private tours, and the good reviews for Adrift Adventures sounded like a good way to go. It was not a good way! It was an EXCELLENT WAY to explore the park!
The seats in the Jeep Wrangler were comfortable and had nice cushions for bumpier parts.
Our guide, Karl, was a very knowledgeable, friendly, and a fantastic driver. His deep knowledge of the area, history, and geology made the trip very educational.
Karl was also an incredible driver. Some areas we went through looked scary and rough, but Karl breezed through them easily. Thanks to that we saw some spots rarely visited by most of the visitors. We had lots of fun on the ride, which I was apprehensive about. As a bonus, Karl rescued a couple whose Jeep was stuck in a sand dune. Karl acted like it was not a big deal.
Karl also listened to our wishes and needs, making the trip special.
Overall, we are glad the park was out of the passes. Our plan "B" should have been plan "A"!
