Discover the breathtaking pieces of an architectural style that started to flourish towards the end of the 1900s, together with the insights of an art historian. In merely 20 years numerous masterpieces were constructed according to the various branches of the Secessionist Movement present in Europe. Viennese Secession, Jugendstil, French and Belgian Art Nouveau and for the first time, a real Hungarian “National Style” was also born. Among these beautiful edifices, we offer you the chance to explore Gresham Palace in and out, the Hungarian National Treasury, the Hungarian Academy of Music, various sites in the famous and historic Váci shopping street and much more gems too than you could ever find in a guidebook. Such a tour could begin at a previously arranged location, such as your hotel, or we recommend meeting at the former House of Hungarian Art Nouveau. A coffee break is also included in the tour at a marvellous Art Nouveau landmark.

We were fortunate enough to do an Art Nouveau walking tour with Suzy throughout Budapest. Suzy is knowledgeable and thoughtful. She has extensive knowledge about Budapest’s architecture and history and took us to many lesser known sites. She was also mindful of the heat and made sure that we were appropriately shaded and walking at a comfortable pace. I would highly recommend Suzy for a walking tour for anyone who is visiting Budapest. I booked through Viator and found it was very reasonably priced. Thank you again, Suzy!

Suzy took the two of us on an extremely informative walking tour looking in great detail at a number of Art Nouveau buildings. She had a knack of accessing areas not open to the public. This meant we saw so many more examples of Art Nouveau features like stained glass windows, wrought iron work & porcelain tiles than we would ever have found ourselves. Suzy had so much knowledge which she shared enthusiastically, pointing out details we would not have noticed independently. She gave us much more time than we expected and broke the walking tour with a stop for very good coffee & cake beautifully served in Hungarian porcelain at the amazing Art Nouveau Four Seasons Gresham Hotel. We would highly recommend booking one of Suzy’s tours - curiocitybudapest.com

Suzy is absolutely amazing. She is not only an expert in art and art nouveau, she is a walking encyclopedia when it comes to history. She is able to tie the art together with its historical roots and leaves her guests with a profound understanding of Hungarian art and culture. Suzy is charming and professional. She went out of the way too make sure all of the important sites were visited and added in a side stop at a beautiful art museum as an extra bonus along the way. Would absolutely recommend!!!

I thoroughly enjoyed my tour with Suzy! She is a wonderful guide and her knowledge of not only Hungarian art nouveau but the history of Hungary as well was extraordinary. I learned far more than I had expected as she included the cultural, socio-political historical context of all the art works that we examined. She took me to places I never would have seen on my own, not open to the public and not mentioned in the average guide book.
I have been to Budapest many times in my life with my family, as my parents are Hungarian, but I had not been on any tours like this and I'm so happy I chose to. It was well worth the time and expense. I also look forward to seeing more places and reading publications that Suzy recommended to extend my knowledge and experience of art nouveau.

First of all, we had a wonderful time on the tour!
Suzy is a very knowledgeable and insightful person who went above and beyond (figuratively and literally) to show us the beauty of Hungarian Art Nouveau.

We had a bit of a problem with the booking over Viator, but it was quickly resolved by Suzy. I recommend booking the tour directly through her personal website.

We would like to recommend the tour to anyone interested in Art Nouveau, you'll certainly have a greater appreciation of Budapest and its architecture while having a great time with a wonderful tour guide. :)

Suzy showed up in overcast 35 degree weather to give us a personal tour of Budapest. My husband and I knew little about Art Nouveau before our tour, but after our afternoon with Suzy, we spend the rest of our trip looking for it in other cities we visited (check out the Blue Church in Bratislava...).
We met Suzy a couple of hours after arriving in Budapest and as this was our first trip to the area, Suzy ended up giving us a tour of Budapest in general with visits to the Buda and Pest areas of the city. She managed to get us into a few private hotel areas to show us beautiful stained glass windows, and used her charm with front desk managers so that we got the best views of Art Nouveau buildings.
Suzy is warm, personal, and fiercely passionate about Hungarian art and culture. I highly recommend this tour even if you have never heard of Art Nouveau.

Highly recommend this tour! Adam showed us a side of Budapest that we never would have seen on our own. We walked past many beautiful buildings before, without being able to put them in a context. After Adams explanation we felt we understood the history of Budapest so much better and were able to appreciate the beauty and quirkiness of the town even more! Adam is a brilliant guide - knowledgeable, patient, sympathetic and inspiring. Go for it! You won’t regret it!

My wife and i had a private tour in Budapest. We booked a Art Nouveau tour. And we had a great day! Suzy organised it and Adam was our guide. Suzy had arranged that we could also see some buildings and hotels inside which are otherwise not open for public. This made the tour extra special. There are so much hidden gems in Budapest. And there was so much more to be seen than we had hoped for. During the tour Suzy sent us old pictures of buildings we were looking at or visiting during or shortly after the time they were build. This gave the tour an extra dimension and so much more interesting.
Again: we had a unforgettable experience, thanks to Suzy and Adam, who are both great guides of Budapest.
Thanks again!

My boyfriend and I decided to take a private Art Nouveau Tour of Budapest. It was so much better than what we expected! Suzy Szoke was amazing. It was like having a friend with us for the day. She is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about her work but also personable and fun. I highly reccomend doing a tour with her. Write to her in advance, she will design the tour according to your interests. The tour was in November 2018.

We booked a 4 hour tour to begin at 10:00 am. The night before, the guide called us to say she wanted to start at 1:00 so that could take the English language guided tour of the Music Academy. We agreed, and that turned out to be well worth the change. The guide appeared to select places to visit as we went along and was able to take us inside several buildings to see special places. Our 4 hour tour turned into 5.5 hours. The guide was excellent, knowledgeable, and as I found out later, a specialist in Art History. The only negative was that we paid for an all-day metro ticket but only used the metro once and her website indicated that the metro ticket would be included in the tour price. We would go again with this tour guide and would recommend her to others.
