This independently run museum is a gem worth seeking out. The stunning Majolica tiles date from the 12th century to the 1920's. The walls of every room are covered in these beautiful handmade floor tiles. The kitchen displayed an extensive arrangement of ceramic jelly/pastry moulds We were guided by a very knowledgable guide which gave us the information to get the most out of our visit. Then we were allowed to wander at will to apprciate fully the sheer scale of the collection. We felt privileged to have been welcomed into this private home which houses the collection.
A word of warning this is difficult to find as there are no signs to indicate where to go. It is the apricot building next to the hat shop. Local people were helpful in showing us to the door.

This museum is a hidden gem. It is quite literally a bit hidden from the street but as the guide explains it is a private residence that is opened only a few hours a day for visitors. It is an hour well spent learning about the detail and structure of the tiles and see a beautiful space. Highly recommend if you have an hour to spare in Palermo.

This is a first rate, first class private museum. It was also a wonderful break from the hustling, bustling crowds and noise of the old town.
In addition to being beautiful to see exquisite tiles from centuries ago, we learn quite a bit about the history of tile making. After a brief guided tour you are free to roam from room to room.
As an extra bonus, it’s not just an enormous tile collection but also a collection of toys, merchandise packaging, art and more.
So glad we took the time to find this - it was well worth it on many levels. The price is a bargain - $10pp.

Lovely small museum filled with a unique collection of beautiful tiles. Look out for No 11 on the street and a small sign on the buzzer by a rustic wooden door, as it is not easy to find. Price includes a guided tour and approx 1 hour needed to visit.

The amount of items in this personal collection was impressive.
There was some confusion in the staff accepting our tickets because it conflicted with a museum event.

Great museum with a nice guided tour.

However one star, for the outrageous treatment we received after staying on the terrace. We stayed at the B&B and we asked if we could stay and work from there until 2.30pm and we were told that is not a problem. Than during our work (conference call) we were yelled at by the cleaning staff. The owner called us during our video conference to say they will call the police if we don’t leave.
We are traveling a lot but something like this has never happened to us and we were scared and sad to see such behavior. I am usually not vindictive, but in this case I wish the owner and the cleaners personally that they will experience a similar treatment in their life.

First of all, I was impressed by the amount of collection and the wonderful display. The person who explained it was very enthusiastic and it's one of the top three of my trip. It was a happy time. Thank you.

This is a small gem of a museum that doubles as a private residence in a 17th palazzo. Every room is filled with difference examples from different time period, exemplifying different production level. All is explained by an erudite guide.
Highly recommended for those who would enjoy an experience a bit off the beaten track.
