We were founded by 2 Marine Biologist with the sole purpose of sharing this incredible natural phenomenon with the entire World.
That's why many guests come with us, looking for fun facts, safe environment, & eager to interview the Marine Biologist.

- All guests must be able to row their kayaks by themselves. One of the requirements is that you are able to get in and out of the kayak on your own and be able to maneuver it. If you are an unexperienced kayaker we highly suggest you choose the earlier tour.

Max weight per person is 220 (NO exclusions), guests will be weighed onsite.

• Travelers should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness
• The owner of the service animal must provide a Licensed Life-vest by the Coast Guard for the animal. The animal must be in total control all the time. Keep in mind that there will be many people around in the dark.
• Minimum age 6 years
• Guest under 18 yrs of age must be accompanied by an adult
• For safety reasons pregnant women cannot participate. (NO exclusions)
• Kayaks have a weight limit of 220 lbs. per person. (NO exclusions) To assure weight restriction is met, guests will be weighed on-site.
• Guests must be able to row their kayaks - guides will assist when needed but they will not tow the kayak
• Our kayaks are all tandem kayaks for two people - you are booking per person not per kayak.
• Guest that are not able to complete the tour for any reason will not be provided a refund of any type.
• All guests must be able to row their kayaks by themselves. One of the requirements is that you are able to get in and out of the kayak on your own and be able to maneuver it. If you are an unexperienced kayaker we highly suggest you choose the earlier tour.
• If one space is left, that means there is 1 space (for 1 person) on a tandem kayak (No single kayaks available). You will be accompanied by another guest on the tour.
• All guests must arrive 30 mins before the start of the tour. The drive from San Juan can be about an hour and 20-30 mins depending on traffic. Please plan accordingly
• Due to the immense popularity the Bio Bay tour, at times can get crowded. It’s not uncommon to meet up with other tour groups waiting to access the canal leading to the lagoon. There can be bumping other kayaks along the way. When crowded conditions warrant, Pure Adventure will provide extra guides for your safety.
• Please keep in mind that this tour takes place in a natural environment and that the bioluminescent phenomenon, although rare, can be seen year round. The intensity of brightness is unpredictable and can vary.
• In order to best appreciate the bioluminescent phenomena our tours run at sunset and early evening and it can get quite dark in the mangrove canal. So, if you are afraid of darkness, a first time kayaker, or have small kids we strongly suggest taking the earlier, sunset trip. This way you can see where you are going, get use to the environment and sharpen your kayaking skills
• Our offices are closed on SUNDAYS - Reservations made Saturday after 5 pm will not be revised until Monday at 9 am. For cancellations request during this time please send us a message through Viator.
• No Expecting Mothers
• For safety reasons, children under 6 years old CANNOT participate in PURE ADVENTURE tour.
• Those who have epilepsy, back problems, heart conditions, dizziness, recent surgery or any other condition that may put life in risk are not allowed to participate in PURE ADVENTURE tour.

Tour guides, pickup, wait time, equipment and value were all great. The bioluminescence was amazing. You can even see the larger fish paths when they’d swim quickly thru your path. We had 2 adults and 2 kids

I had a wonderful and unforgettable experience. We were able to kayak safely to the small body of water and back to shore because of the amazing staff. For the trip I had Noel, Enrique, Yadiel, Natalia, Amaury, Catalina. I am a beginner and they were extremely patient and understanding. They provided feedback and offered advice to at kept us out of harms way. I will forever cherish this moment of my vacation.

We were really debating between the tour times and chose the 6:30 which ended up working out great. We got to see the mangroves and a beautiful sunset over the lagoon. We went 4 days before a full moon and the bioluminescence was so cool and beat my expectations. Guides were really good.

The bioluminescent kayaking tour with Pure Adventure was very enjoyable. We had a magical moment on the return route under the mangrove canopy when our paddles set the water ablaze with a luminous glow as huge fireflies flitted above. Our guides were organized and friendly. Seamless operation from check-in through our return from our tour.

Our family of four (with two teen boys) went on this evening tour, and it was unforgettable. Our guides (Javier, Natalia, Amaury, Enrique, and Catalina) were great! We had some trouble navigating the kayak at first as we were inexperienced, but the guides were very patient and helpful. It was a cloudy night and so the visibility of the bioluminescent bay was great, but they added to the experience by putting a tarp over the kayak. It looks like diamonds running down your arm - truly phenomenal!! The trip back through the mangroves was dark but easy enough to follow the kayak in front of us, and the current really carries you along. I was freaked out a little by fish jumping out of the water but thankfully none got in our kayak 😳 Our whole family agreed this was unforgettable and we would definitely do it again!

This tour was a magical and fun experience. Natalia, Javier, and others were very knowledgeable about bioluminescence and PR wildlife. Total trip was 3 miles kayaking - the first half was against the current but not challenging. I would recommend this trip, and esp Pure Adventure, wholeheartedly!

Our family had such a memorable and unforgettable experience! We had such amazing guides (shoutout to Enrique, Javier, Natalia, Amavry, and Catalina)! Seeing the water light up like crystals - especially under the tarp - was something you could never imagine seeing. Overall, amazing and fun trip with family! Definitely suggest going!

Tour guides were amazing. Journey through the mangroves was beautiful. The bioluminescence under the tarp was insane. Dinner at the restaurant near the shop after was one of the best in Puerto Rico.

Had an amazing time !! The instructors were amazing, friendly and informative. The bioluminescent bay was incredible. Truly a once in a life time thing. Catalina, Javier, Enrique, Natalia and amaury were excellent instructors.
