What a fantastic time! One of the best experiences of our girls trip. Mario is such a great guide - knowledgeable, passionate, funny, charming, and everything he selected for us was top notch. The restaurant he took us to for lunch had incredible views, delicious food, the hostess was kind and gracious. Highly recommend this tour!

As wine enthusiasts, our group of six had high expectations for the half day Konavle wine, history & food tour for six people & it did not disappoint!

Mario - our tour guide - was friendly & warm from the beginning. He met us on time at our hotel & the transport was perfect for our group & the the two others who joined.

En route to our destination, Mario gave us a brief history of the region. At the first stop, there were some stunning views with a chance to stretch our legs & learn even more about the area.

After this, our second & third stop included the wine tasting & lunch. These were superb! Mario’s knowledge about wine is amazing - what he doesn’t know about wine isn’t worth knowing!

We must have tried at least 5+ different wines over the course of the day & portions for the tasting were generous, as was the wine served with lunch.

As for the food, this was delicious & very authentic. The vegetarian in the group was really well catered for too. Overall, we loved our day! It represented excellent value for money and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend!

We have booked tours with Mario in the past and were really excited to see a new tour option (since our last visit to Dubrovnik in 2018).

The tour starts with a drive past the airport to the beautiful Konavle valley. We left the main road to head to Sokol Grad which is an impressive castle on a rock. There are so many amazing views of the valley and sea. The castle has been restored and provides a really interesting history of the castle and area. We are lucky enough to be there early in the season so had the place to ourselves.

Next stop was the first winery which was in a picturesque area. All the wines were wonderful and very reasonably priced. I wish we could have purchased all the wines to take home. The wines were very interesting and fantastic quality.

After that we stopped at a second winery which was a much larger production. The building was huge and had a late 1970s vibe. We were welcomed by the director and provided with some really lovely wines. When leaving Dubrovnik I spotted a number of the wines we tasted in the duty free.

Finally we had lunch of Peka which is a local meat dish (ours was veal). The meat was melt in the mouth good and the location next to a stream was perfect.

Mario is a great guide. He is very friendly and knowledgeable. He likes to make sure you are having a really good trip. I come to Dubrovnik annually for a running event and Mario's tours have become a must do afterwards. I am already looking forward to next years trip.

This is our third tour with Dubrovnik Wine Tours - we've previously been on the Classic and the Bosnia tours. Mario is a great guide, and we always learn a lot whilst trying some truly spectacular wines that he's managed to uncover in the region. Mario was very flexible, adjusting the tour schedule to fit in with some inclement weather in the morning. Konavle is a beautiful area, and well worth exploring. Would we go on another tour with Mario? Definitely.
