Join us for a visit to Orkney where you will see some of the oldest and best-preserved Neolithic sites in Europe. Designated a Unesco World Heritage Site, Orkney is a unique place worth visiting.
On this adventure, our starting point is the Stones of Stenness, four giant megaliths which date back to 3100BC making it one of the oldest stone circles in Britain.
Second stop, Ring of Brodgar is the finest known circular late Neolithic or early Bronze Age stone ring. Get your cameras ready to take some great pictures!!
Our next stop will be Broch of Gurness, an Iron Age broch village where prosperous farmers had settled.
Be ready now for our second most visited site on Orkney, the Italian Chapel.
Next stop, St. Magnus Cathedral is in the heart of Kirkwall, the capital city of the Orkney Islands. Also known as the “light in the North”.

Chris was an amazing tour guide. Professional, hilarious and kept us thoroughly entertained for the day. Orkney was beautiful and Chris made sure we learned its history and got beautiful photos of the day!

Between the Princess crew and the tour van, the entire meet up point was without problems. I think meeting up with your tour and returning on time is a big issue when choosing a tour other than the ones offered by the cruise line. The tour provided a knowledgeable guide and driver. Tour group was semi private with about 10 people in a van. It was nice not to have such a large group….also faster at each site. Arrived on time and returned in plenty of time. It was especially nice not a 8 to 10 hour tour. I think 6.5 hours.

The reason for 3 stars rating being “Semi Private” having 29 people in a large van. The tour guide Karen was assigned without much docs preparation even though she was extremely good. Karen was apparently stationed too far inside the port gate such that 19 people did not see her (holding the sign very low), 2 went ahead to the van and waited there (the driver did not communicate with Karen) and 17 went ahead to the port gate, We 2 saw Karen, went to her, then a port agent made us 3 further away from the ship. We 3 waited for 10 minutes before discovered the 17, then 10 more minutes before discovered the 2 at the van, then 5 more minutes for the van to come. 29 PEOPLE IS NOT “SEMI PRIVATE”. The sign of the windshield says “TOP PRIVATE TOUR”. Itinerary was as described but the weather turned bad because of a cold front (the day before and the day after were very good).

Rachel and the driver were amazing. They would get 5 stars. But if booking off a cruise be prepared to wait in the rain for a while and to get absolutely no help or answers from customer service. But otherwise a 5 star experience.

We had an outstanding time with Chris! Even with a delayed start because of several people not showing up, Chris was professional and made up the time that we lost. The tour was interesting, and we saw a variety of beautiful sites and landscapes. Chris was quite funny and knew a lot, able to answer all of our various questions. Would highly recommend!

We only went to Kirkwall for one day and it was an interesting visit. Everything is in walking distance and the Bishop's and Earl's Palace were great to explore, while the medieval Cathedral was fabulous. Quite unexpected in a small place like Kirkwall. Shops were lovely and enjoyable to visit. I regretted not having the time to spend in the Orkneys and experience more of the culture.

Since there were only two couples that had booked this tour, we were given the option to do a private tour for an additional one hundred dollars per person. That made it Three hundred dollars per person. Although Marlene was a knowledgeable guide, we did not believe this five hour tour for four people was worth $1200. The semi private tour might be ok.

Orkney is a beautiful set of islands in Scotland. On our tour we were able to see some Neolithic sites dating back before Stonehenge. We were also able to walk in and around the sites and see the beautiful serene countryside. In addition, we went to an Italian chapel that was constructed by Italian prisoners of war during WWII. The tour was ended by a trip to a gin distillery in Kirkwall. This tour was a great way to see some of the beautiful things that the Orkney islands has to offer.

Hazel was an amazing tour guide and this tour allowed us to see so much of this beautiful island!!! We saw so much on the day we were there and loved the whole tour.
