This was such a great experience. We enjoyed the market walk very much as we got to sample lots of local specialties and items. The cooking class was very personable and informative. We learned lots of new techniques and the food that we got to enjoy the end of the class was exceptional. It was so fun learning about the Hungarian cooking styles and cuisines. I highly recommend that you book this class.

This is a must do! It was so much fun and so informative. The market trip was full of information on not only the food, but Budapest history. The cooking class was excellent. And then we got to eat!!!
Katka was perfect- she is in the perfect role of chef, teacher and tour guide. Many thanks for a wonderful afternoon.

The market was so incredible to visit. The history of the building and the old photos was fascinating. Our time cooking and learning new recipes was so worth it to have a special lunch.

What a special experience. Kata was a fantastic host. Extremely knowledgeable, funny and totally down to earth. She made us feel right at home. The tour of the market was great. More importantly this is where locals buy food. The cooking class was really fun. My wife and I were fortunate to be the only students. We left with a wonderful experience and recipes for a life time. Don’t miss this in Budapest.

This was a wonderful immersion experience! The market was so fun and interesting. Our guide and teacher, Kata, could not have been nicer. She was so patient with us, as we are novice chefs!

We were really looking forward to this Hungarian cooking class which had great reviews on TripAdvisor. Unfortunately we were a bit disappointed for several reasons.

1) It was advertised as a maximum of 12 people but there were 16 in our class, which was very crowded in the rather small kitchen.

2) The facilities were quite small and so with 16 people we just sat around a table and it wasn’t super interactive. There were points where individuals were able to have a go at doing some part of the cooking process but it wasn’t that interactive as the rest of the people were sitting around a table, not up and watching or engaging with what was happening.

2) There was not enough food for everyone - for example, there was not enough nokedli (noodles) for everyone.

3) The market tour was interesting but could be improved in several ways. It would have been good to get some more commentary as we walked through the market. We tried some traditional savoury pastry and then 6 different types of salami. It would have been better to try a great variety of things and have less salami.

Thank you for the tour, although it didn’t quite fulfil our expectations, we hope these suggestions will help to improve the class in the future.

Loves the whole experience. Shopping in the market to the history and cooking. Even went back to the market for shopping later.

We loved walking through the market and tasting foods we’d never have tried on our own. We were also amazed at how much we were able to cook! Not a moment of our time together was wasted. Our guide/ chef, Kata, did a great job of accommodating our group’s food allergies (gluten in one case; fish, sesame, and nuts in another). We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, learned some new skills (eg. making “dumplings”), and tried many new foods.
