My family of 4 had the private tour with Jael on Saturday 4th May. First let me state we found Jael to be lovely.
But as for the tour itself - I’ve taken many city food tours all over the world. This was unfortunately one of my WORST experiences! As a family we rated it 2.5/5 stars.
On previous tours I've taken, we've been offered a wide variety of food, almost too much to eat, but this one was more little tastes. For the price point of $200 per person, I should have left the tour completely full.
The tour summary suggests we'll indulge in 'wines, cheeses, meats, and delicacies.' We had one glass of wine. No cheese and no meat.
Our first stop was for FREE samples of olives, olive oil and honey. Free samples are good for the tour operator but unacceptable for the paying tourist. We also stopped at a macaron shop, where we got 1 macaron (aka one little bite) each. At another stop we each got one chocolate almond and one small slice of candied orange peel (a strip of the peel, not even a slice of orange). We even tried to go to two cheese stops but both were closed - so we missed out on another experience. This one frustrated us the most as cheese is an obvious stop while you're in France and this exposed a lack of care and preparation from the tour operators. The socca stop and the ice cream stop were fine, but did not make up for the lack of food on the rest of the tour.
I feel I was deceived to pay such an expensive price only to get not much food in return. At the end of the day, we should not have left hungry. Unfortunately we did not find it to be QUA-LI-TY as the description suggests.
