Hermit Road isn't accessible by private vehicle during the summer. The tour will instruct you to park at stop 15 and walk from stops 16-22, then take the shuttle for stops 23-31. The stops after 31, on the eastern side of the park, can once again be accessed via private vehicle.
After booking, you can check your email before downloading the Tour Guide App by Action, enter your unique password, and access your tour. The preceding steps require good internet/wifi access. Simply follow the audio instructions and the route from there.

We downloaded the app for the South rim driving tour at the Grand Canyon. We liked the stories and the historical background of the various points in the park. It was a very helpful app and added understanding to our visit.

Scam, you still pay to enter park. Then all they offer is already free. DON'T DO IT! LEARN FROM MY MISTAKE.

Great investment for a family trip at your own pace. Great tips and works for most of the part. Definitely, worth it. We used it on IOS device but I reckon it will work fine on other devices as well.

Waste of money. It wouldn’t download. So, we weren’t able to use it. We did call, they were able to help with the first part but not the second. I don’t understand all the secrecy with not letting you download ahead of time. You’d be able to trouble shoot that way and not be left empty-handed.
