Freediving in a cenote has been a bucket list item for a while, but checking it will leave me with a greater sense of accomplishment than I had ever imagined. I took the Freediver Course with Esteban, and was blown away by his knowledge, patience, and teaching talent.His focus on safety gave me the confidence to break beyond my (self-perceived) limits diving, and helped me achieve dive goals that I did not even think possible for myself! Esteban is also an extremely observant and personable teacher. I appreciated that he was able to provide specific and personalized advice to help me improve my dive experience and technique. I had high expectations for a freediving lesson/experience, and Esteban fully exceeded them. Thank you again, Freedive Utopia - for an incredible experience! Great experience to dive with Esteban for two main reasons:
- exploring cenotes, such as haloclines, undesribable good viz, stalactites droppande down the caverns and falling through sulfur clouds.
- great experience to meet and dive with such a pure and passionate soul!!

Esteban was a very patient and detailed instructor and I even shocked myself at how much I learned in just a day! It was an awesome experience exploring the cenotes from down below with him! He also took some really awesome videos which helped me see areas I can improve on! Definitely recommend it if you’re in Tulum! You won’t regret it!

Met Esteban while he was teaching his students at Cenote Angelita, and instantly asked if he could teach me and my friend the day after. Freediving is such a fun and amazing experience. I overcame my fear of being in deep water thanks to the great instructor and coach Esteban!! Never expected to be this happy and content in water. He gave great feedback and good knowledge about freediving and just staying relaxed and calm in the water. Am definitely planning on doing more freediving, and hopefully get to take LVL 2 of freediving with Esteban!

I had a great time freediving with Esteban and his school, Freedive Utopia. Esteban is a nice man and a very skilled instructor. He makes very cool videos. Also he took me to some amazing places near Tulum that I would never find by myself (cenotes and sea reefs). I highly recommend him and his school!

I did a 3 day freedive course with Esteban. He is super calm and very knowledgeable. Those things are a blessing when you're in the water, trying a first freedive experience.
I was very open and honest with him about my struggles and what might be holding me back from total relaxation under water. I recommend that for everybody, because after that he knew exactly how to counter those limitations and he guided me to an very successful experience.

We had a wonderful 3 day course with Esteban. The first day it was a bit scary but Esteban makes sure he does not rush and let you be comfortable first. He chose some beautiful cenotes for the diving and adjusted the program to personal needs. Next to that he makes some very cool video's. I would definitely recommend.

My first time freediving was in a lesson Esteban gave me at Casa Cenote. As I had no knowledge of how to equalize pressure in my ears, we spent a good amount of time developing the different techniques to do so. I've never been able to dive down more than 6 feet, and with his thorough teaching, I was able to dive down to 24 feet by the end of the lesson. My goal was not to go for depth, but to be able to go the distance exploring the natural habitat in the cenote. Esteban does a great job of giving you the important safety protocols without overwhelming a first time diver with too much information in one lesson. In addition to the physical skills he taught, he also emphasized the importance of channeling your inner "happy dolphin" as having a child-like approach of wonder and curiosity is equally important to the right mindset for freediving. He encouraged me to challenge myself and step outside my comfort zone, as he saw the potential in me to handle cave passages. After our instruction concluded, he gave me several Go Pro videos showing me pushing the limits of anything I thought I could achieve in my first time freediving. I highly recommend Esteban to help you embark on your freediving journey!
