The owner of the company, George Trandafir, also acts as your guide and driver by taking you around with his minibus for guides and small groups. The sweetest person in the world is a very sensitive and solution-oriented person at all times. We, 7 people, made a program with George and turned Romania upside down for 14 days. If you are going to make a trip to Romania and want to make it enjoyable, just contact George.

It is a struggle to find words to express how delighted we were with this tour. The sights, the food, the lodgings were all top notch. But any tour provider can arrange those. What makes this tour stand out is George. What an amazing host! From the minute we met until we reluctantly said goodbye, it was clear that his overriding concern was his guests' enjoyment. I use the word "guests" versus "clients" because that's what we feel like - that we happen to have a good friend who is supremely knowledgeable about his country. We can't recommend this tour highly enough!

Touring Romania with George was an outstanding experience! I absolutely loved having a private guide, private car and individualized itinerary based on our interests. George created an incredible itinerary for us incorporating many sites and activities. We were able to spend extra time visiting traditional Saxon and Romanian villages in the countryside where we experienced traditional culture. We ate amazingly tasty farm-to-table meals at sheep stations and in village homes while in the countryside and delicious restaurants in larger cities. We were able to meet people doing traditional jobs in the traditional way such as wool milling, hat making, embroidery, farming, cheese making, wine making and an herbal remedies maker and healer. In addition to seeing the cultural sites we wanted to hike in the mountains and enjoy the beautiful scenery (and get some exercise). George arranged for us to walk between several of the villages. Walking an ancient path into the woods on foot, passing shepherds tending sheep, foraging for wild raspberries and blackberries then emerging into another village was a joy and an experience I’ll always remember! Additionally, we summited the Rooster’s Crest in Maramures and picked wild huckleberries (the locals call them wild blue berries). Yum! Tasty food even on the paths and trails! George is organized, prompt, adventurous, kind, and funny but best of all his knowledge about the history, culture and people of Romania and surrounding countries. His knowledge and tales made our driving time very educational as well as entertaining. From the moment we arrived until the moment we departed our trip in Romania was wonderful in every way. I can’t wait to go back in the winter and have George take my family on a winter ski tour!

We were a small group on a 10 day private tour with George. It was simply wonderful! George is kind funny and flexible, not to mention a skilled storyteller and historian. We truly had an insiders experience thanks to George’s knowledge and connections with families and lovely places to stay in Romania. While we saw many of the cultural highlights that Romania has to offer, we also spent some time off the beaten path: visiting folks for amazing meals at their homes as well as crafts people demonstrating their art and craft. I cannot say enough about what a special experience this opportunity to travel with George was, thanks for an amazing journey George!

If you want to be immersed in the culture, history and economics of Romania, George should be your guide. He is a Bucharest native who is able to pass on his passion for his country. We were a group of five who hired George for a 14 day tour of Romania.
From the airport pickup to the drop off at our Bucharest Airbnb 14 days later, we had total confidence in George. George handled all the details of our trip from hiring an air conditioned van, driving the van, arranging our accommodations, and planning the majority of our meals. He was patient and helpful in the planning of our trip - always asking for our feedback for the sights to visit.
George was appreciative of our individual needs. I am a vegetarian and George saw to it that I was served a vegetarian meal at our our home stay meals. The air conditioning on our van broke and George located another van with only an hour delay.
An added touch - after a long day of sightseeing, George would leave us at an outdoor cafe for a cold beer. He would arrive an hour later with a very cool van.
I highly recommend visiting Romania and hiring George as your guide.
A big thank you George for an amazing 14 days and wonderful memories. You are an highly experienced guide and a gentleman.

I am a senior with limited mobility, traveling with a friend who suffers from similar issues. I cannot climb mountains or difficult steps. Yet, with George, in 14 days, I truly saw Romania. He did all the right things:located accommodations without steps, drove us through the beautiful country, taught us the history, shared the hopes of Romania’s future, Yes! I learned all the facts about Romania and the ability of the people to survive, both physically and spiritually through most difficult times. All of the things we expect our guides to do, he accomplished with the expertise of a professional.
What I did not expect: Through George, in 14 days, I felt the heart and soul of Romania, and how their faith sustains them, The people are as beautiful as the landscape. I fell in love with the way of life. It made me recall the days of simple values. So, George does have the ability to reach beyond the norm and share the heart and soul of Romania. And, I have the great fortune of having seen Romania through his eyes . In addition, I have made a wonderful and insightful friend!

We met George last year when we joined him for a two day tour from Bucharest. This small sample was enough to convince us that we wanted to see much more of Romania. However, we are "mid seventies" and not exactly spry!
George created the perfect tour for us. Not only did he hand-pick hotels which had elevators (or ground floor rooms available) but he arranged for two-night stays in most places. This meant a leisurely pace for us and enabled us to have enough free time to get to know our destination and make friends along the way. (The people in Romania are exceptionally welcoming.) We experienced everything we had hoped for and more.
Every detail of our vacation was thoroughly planned with our comfort in mind. I never imagined that I would be able to have such a wonderful travel experience such as we had with Touring Romania. It truly was the trip of a lifetime!

This trip was jointly planned with George Trandafir of Touring Romania. The pace of the tour was perfect. The scenery was spectacular. The vehicle was very comfortable, and George is a great driver, both in the city and in the mountains. The accommodations selected were of high quality and in excellent locations for enjoying the beauty of Maramures and Bucovina. George's detailed knowledge of today's Bucharest and the history of the Transylvanian countryside was very helpful. The tour was an excellent value.
