After crossing the ground floor lobby towards the turn styles of the Museum, the first collection lies before you. The Gallery of the Slopes of the Acropolis houses finds from the sanctuaries that were founded on the slopes of the Acropolis, as well as objects that Athenians used in everyday life from all historic periods.
Continue to the Archaic Acropolis Gallery and view exhibits from all sides as three-dimensional exhibits. With the benefit of the changing natural light, you can discern and discover the delicate surface variations of sculptures and select the vantage point from which to observe the exhibits.
At the final Gallery, you will admire views of unique works that became prototypes for subsequent periods from antiquity to today. For the first time ever, it is possible to view the coffered ceiling of the Propylaia and the sculptures from the parapet of the temple of Athena Nike, and finally, the Caryatids – or Korai of the Erechtheion at close proximity on the balcony overlooking the Gallery of the Slopes of the Acropolis. The main monuments that constitute the Classical Acropolis are the Propylaia, the temple of Athena Nike and the Erechtheion.
The exhibition concludes at the north side of the first floor gallery where you will see numerous statues were placed on the Acropolis, which represented gods, heroes, mythological themes and portraits of famous men including the Sanctuary of Artemis Brauronia.

Museum wonderful so review for Viator process in Athens.
Tickets did not arrive in email the day prior. Took 3 calls the morning of museum visit to local agency Viator uses to obtain tix. Tix from agent also don’t scan at museum entrance either. Do not recommend.

Beautiful architecture of the museum with many interesting items displayed. The models of the Acropolis at the beginning were a great start.

The tickets were not sent to me the day before! I called Viator to get them resent and then when sent, I could not open the files. After multiple ways to open the files with no success, I had to buy two more tickets for $30. Not happy to pay two times for the same tickets!

Visit to this museum is a must. To see some of the original pieces of the Parthenon and the Acropolis was simply amazing.

The ticket was easy to use and skip the long lines in the morning, but we all 3 had trouble with the audio app on our phone so we just toured on our own. Don’t miss the ruins underneath the building which you must get to outside the museum.

Two of the four audio guides I ordered did not work. The ones that did work were difficult to understand. It was also difficult to follow her narration through the museum. I would not recommend buying this tour. I think when you go there, you can buy an audio tour from the museum.

The museum was lovely. Particularly the movies giving historical context. Also, the historic city upon which the museum was built was absolutely fascinating and very well done. We also purchased the audio which was hard to follow because it did not align with the numbers on the pieces being discussed. It was a nice place to spend a hot afternoon.
