Join us on a journey to Karfi, a Minoan settlement nestled in the Lassithi Mountains.
From the top of Karfi, you will be rewarded with breathtaking views of the northern coast of Crete and the Lassithi Plateau. You will also be able to see the ruins of the Minoan sanctuary that once stood there.
In 1930, the English School of Archaeology excavated one-story houses and a large building that served as a sanctuary. In the sanctuary, they found clay figurines of a Minoan goddess with raised hands. Although the findings from the settlement are not extensive, the route to Karfi and its views make it worthwhile.
You can access Karfi by a dirt road starting near Kera or by following the E4 path that starts from the church of Agia Ariadne on the plateau of Nisimos.
After your hike, treat yourself to freshly picked strawberries from the local farmers.
