Tour by Van is by far the best tour experience we’ve ever had as a family of four with two young teens. Rudy sent Jose Mario who gave us a private tour of Acapulco which included the Chapel at the top of the mountain, Cliff diving and provided detailed history of Mexico dating back over 1400 years. He is a wealth of knowledge and the kindest person you could ever meet.
Our 2nd tour was a local Wrestling (Lucha Libre) event that took place at night, it was super entertaining and safe!
Our 3rd was an archaeological tour which took place one hour from Acapulco. Again, Rich is history and majestic scenery of Tehuacalco. Lunch was fresher than any restaurant could offer.

We learned more about Mexico on this trip than any other trip combined. I, personally have been to Mexico 5 times, to five different locations. Not only was it informative, it was emotional.

I strongly recommend Rudy’s Tour by Van and Jose Mario as a Guide.
They will always be our friends in Mexico.

Highly recommend this tour for history, archeology buffs, and others interested in ancient cultures. Rudy and Mario picked us up right on time at our hotel. We were driven through the Sierra Madre, through villages and a variety of farms. Senor Pauli the original owner of the land, gave us a great tour (translation by Mario). Pauli’s story and the history of the ruins is fascinating. Not as extensive as say Machu Pichu but amazingly large for something so recently “discovered”. Very well maintained. Wonderful lunch at a local restaurant and a nice drive back to our hotel. See it before it gets crowded.

Our guides where friendly and very knowledgeable of the site and Guerrero in general. The taxi was very clean and cool and the drive was as beautiful and educational as the archeological site itself. My partner and I were honoured to learn from Pollo himself, despite the language barrier we learned so much about the history of the Yopi and the site. Our guides generously took lots of photos for us and allowed us to take breaks in the shade as needed (bring plenty of water, sunscreen and a hat as it was 37 degrees there). I would highly highly recommend this trip to anyone interested in archeology or Indigenous history, the private tour is especially worth the money. Our guides also offered us a discount on a variety of other tours in Acapulco, so I recommend this tour in the beginning of your trip.

Our guides were awesome and personable, with tons of knowledge of not only the site but Mexico and Guerrero in general. One of the most beautiful drives I’ve ever been on. Our guides took us to the home of the gentleman who used to own the land the site is on and we ate wonderfully fresh fruit and he joined us on our tour. It was the highlight of our trip to Acapulco and I’d recommend it to anyone who comes here!

We went on several tours during our stay in Acapulco and this was our favorite place that we visited in the area. We were picked up on time and drove through some beautiful mountain scenery on the way to the site and also got to go through one of the longest tunnels in the world. We had two guides for the day in addition to Rudy, who drove us out to the site and brought us back to the city for the remainder of our tour.
We were asked if we wanted an indepth tour or a basic tour. We love history and archaeological sites, so we opted for the indepth tour. We have visited several ruins in Mexico and Central America and found this site to be very interesting as the architecture and construction of the site was a little bit different from others we have seen. Most notable were the sunken ball court and slopes on the temple. It was amazing how the lines of the temples matched up with the lines of the surrounding mountains. The site has only been open to the public for a few years and much of it has not been excavated yet. I hope they will open up more of the site in the future. At the site, we were joined by the former owner, Poli, who has lived there all his life and told us a lot of information about the site, the Yope tribe, and explained to us some details about ruins in general that we did not know before. It was a great to be able to learn about the site instead of just looking at it. Our guides translated all of his information for us.
Our guides really made our day enjoyable. Alfonso and Jesus were very personable and did their best to make sure we were enjoying ourselves, were comfortable, and having a great experience. Back in the city, Alfonso pointed out many places of interest and entertained us with tales of his experiences in Acapulco.
Lunch was at The Cabana at Caleta Beach. It was very nice to eat with a view of the beach and smell the ocean. There were fans and misters inside the open air restaurant to keep you cool. We opted for the included lunch, or you could pay the cost difference if you wanted something else. We wanted to try the authentic chicken tacos. The meal was not what we imagined it would be, but was very tasty. It was interesting to learn that their style of tacos is different from what Americans consider tacos. The meat was rolled up in the tortilla and deep fried with the toppings served on the side instead of inside the shell. Most Americans would call this dish a taquito. A restaurant in our area calls this dish a crisp meat burrito. Be advised the locals eat lunch from 2-4, much later than Americans do, so be sure to have breakfast before going on any tours.
We had a very enjoyable day.

Jose and Umberto our guides were a wealth of information and they shared the settlers here venerated mountains, considering them sacred because they believed that the rain gods, who were responsible for the harvest, lived in them. Their society was segregated into classes and was dedicated to agriculture directed by governors and priests who held ceremonies to the gods to ask for abundance of rain and seeds.

This is an archaeological site located only 60 minutes from Acapulco. The archaeological site stands out because the monumental buildings that remain are so precisely located along natural landscapean urban center made up of plazas, temples, residences for the elite and a palace. Beto and Jose provided water and energy bars during our visit, all in all highly recommended.
