Our tour operator picked us up on time and instead of heading to La Paz, drove to San Jose and then north. He was quiet until we left the urban area and then informed us lunch would be at 2 pm and we would stop for a bathroom and breakfast break. As we drove through the desert he talked about the birds, plants, and history of the area.
Our breakfast stop was a small cafe with a not so clean toilet facilities- no paper and no running water. Hand sanitizer was available. After spending 45 minutes there, we drove north and heard more about the towns and history.
We did not stop at the mining towns but did a drive through at one. Although I spotted a road sign that said La Paz 46 kilometers, he drove in the opposite direction and we headed towards a power plant. The next sign for La Paz said 67 kilometers. We went north for another 20 minutes to drive by the ferry and beach.
Back to town and 2 stops - a beach with bathrooms and a jewelry shop where we were given a show on harvesting pearls.
We had a hour to walk around the waterfront and our driver mysteriously disappeared from the parking spot.
Lunch was at a restaurant near a town square, which was more interesting than the tourist shops on the waterfront. Some of our group asked to stop a church to see a gold baby Jesus, which we did.
Back in the van and headed to Todos Santos - a delightful town that we only had half an hour to explore.
Very disappointing trip - fortunately the fellow passengers were great we really enjoyed their company. The circuitous route and disappearance made me think the driver had a pm appointment in La Paz and planned the trip accordingly.
When I booked the trip it specifically stated 2 stops at the mining towns and a guided city tour. Did not expect minimal walking.

Excellent way to spend a day seeing 2 towns and countryside.

There is a lot of car driving but we took direct route on way to La Paz to have more time exploring and eating (mid-morning) breakfast and late lunch. Knowledgeable guide/driver Francisco Daniel who showed us every kindness and extremely gracious. Nice and new van that was clean and comfortable.

There were no kids in our group and expect it would be long and frustrating day for most young ones.

Special showing of how pearls are made at Velvet Box on Mallecon (Boardwalk) in La Paz that was arranged by tour. The tour group all received special discounts (ours was 35%) but like anything in Mexico can probably negotiate as good of discount anywhere BUT you may not be assured same quality.

Be sure to check messages from tour as pick up time at hotel much earlier than noted on reservation screen.

Our guide (Urial) was great and knowledgeable. We took the back roads and stopped for breaks and snacks at places we would never have found on our own. Highly recommend booking this trip. It is a full day trip 12 hours so be prepared.

Vicente was very warm and friendly also a good communicator. I loved stopping at local coffee shows and an added surprise was The Tropic of Cancer. However I would have loved to extend the day by exploring La Paz a little more and Todos Santos. The lunch was nice to get to know the group. The small group was the perfect number. La Paz has way better beaches than Cabo. The color of the water is magnificent. What a sweet cool vibe I’d love to go back. And it was way warmer than Cabo which is perfect for us. The van was comfortable and the drive very smooth. Well worth your time

Our trip was canceled and we were not notified until we called the number on our voucher. We were to be rescheduled today but that was canceled.
The good news is we will get a full refund.

The history and specifics of LA Paz, Buena Vista, Todos Santos and various sites we saw were varied and interesting. Our guide was knowledgeable and accommodating--an amazing wealth of information! However, the shopping offered mostly common items not unique and mass produced. The Mexican restaurant main entree was not tasty...very commonplace and plain. I was greatly underwhelmed! The flan and soup were delicious, though!
