Located in one of the oldest and most beautiful neighborhoods in Mexico City, the Blue House was turned into a museum in 1958, four years after the death of the famous painter Frida Kahlo.

This house-museum is full of history, as it is the same house where Frida was born, lived and died. Although she lived in different places in Mexico City and abroad when she married Diego Rivera, in the end she never left her picturesque house in Coyoacán.
Upon entering this place and without being a great admirer, you will feel like you are traveling back to the years of the painter's universe, since not only are some of her most famous works such as Viva la Vida or Frida y la cesarean, but there are also newspapers, clothing, accessories, among many other items and objects for personal use.

Wow, this museum is amazing. A complete dive into Frida and Diego's home and gardens, including a peak at some of her clothing.

Our 6-year-old is a huge Frida fan so this was a must visit for us, and we were not disappointed. We pre-bought 10am entry tickets in advance so avoided most of the long lines (which were around the corner y the time we left).

Stop for coffee and donuts before hand at El Jarocho, and you won't mind waiting in line nearly so much.

Lovely museum - watch out for ticket scams. Saw many people turned away at the door. The garden was my favorite part.

The Frida Kahlo Museum and Diego Rivera Museum, was a beautiful experience. They have done a great job in preserving a lot of the original artifacts. There were a couple of videos to watch about Frida and Diego which just added to the right history of these two giants in the art world. The tour takes about 2-2 1/2 hours. Afterwords there's a very nice sitting and eating area. Make sure to check out the gift shop there are plenty of little, medium and large things to buy and continue to support the museum. This is a definite place to visit if your going to be in Mexico city. Also check out hte main park a few blocks down from the museum for shopping and dining options.

Some initial trepidation about Mexico City proved to be unfounded. We stayed in the Roma Norte / La Condesa area. Pleasantly walkable and interesting to spend time exploring. Plenty of cafes and restaurants, at all price points. The Frida Kahlo Museum expanded our understanding of this great artist, and the art market in an adjoining park was well worth a walk through. The San Juan Market is well worth a visit as a market for locals, not tourists. A Turibus hop-on, hop-off bus tour was mildly disappointing as the poor quality English audio was drowned out by the loud Spanish tour descriptions broadcast over the coach's loudspeakers.
A day tour to the Teotihuacan pyramids was fantastic; the size of the complex is stunning. And the tequila tasting session afterwards was very enjoyable.
There were several other places we visited during our time there. Overall, it was a wonderful experience. Many areas of Mexico City are pedestrian and bicycle friendly.
The only sour note was being ripped off by a taxi driver who added a 0 to the fare just before I entered my PIN. I only discovered this upon checking my card account afterwards. Uber was fine; be very wary of taxi drivers.
