I feel it is important for guests visiting the Highlands to eat the best of what the region has to offer, incorporated into traditional recipes, and I can guarantee a thoroughly Highland experience. The Cleikum Social Eating Club has been modelled on the Cleikum referred to in Sir Walter Scott’s “St. Ronan’s Well”, and who did more than the latter to introduce the Highlands for romantic destination travel?
I was born and brought up in Inverness, and am enthusiastic about the visiting potential of this area, and know it well.
I was a hostess/guide in the observation car of the Inverness to Kyle of Lochalsh during the summer season when I was at University. I provided a running commentary during the journey, and helped travellers with suggestions on where to eat on arrival, what they should see in the area, and information on the Isle of Skye.

Karen, provided an amazing experience. The food pairing was out of this world! Everything we had was local and prepared to its finest. She was a lovely host and we enjoyed the company of the other guest as well. She also provided much knowledge of the area. I would 100% recommend this experience.

Where do I begin, everything was perfect from food, wine to conversation! This is a must do in my book. It was like eating at a 5 star restaurant! Karen was a delight, thanks again Karen.

Karen, our host opened her home and hearth to us. The food was superb, her hospitality even better. Each course was perfect and she provided much background information. She actually forages for fresh mushrooms, berries and other fresh foods to include in her dinners! She recommended other must-see stops and restaurants for our party. When the cab companies refused to pick us up as there was a football game on and no one came to work, she drove us all back to our Airbnb! Absolutely delightful!

This was a shot in the dark to go to dinner at a strangers house, and we couldn't be more happier that we did. We really wanted the full Scottish friendly food experience, and Karen provided just that, in her beautiful home. She made some great foods that were on the Scottish "must try" list, but she also accommodated our squeamish teenagers that wont try seafood. The food couldn't have been any more "Farm to table" that what we had, it was freshly picked, cooked to perfection, and the company and conversation was marvelous. Wish we lived in the same country, so we could do it again! Treat yourself and family to this dinner and host.

Dinner with Karen was a highlight of our trip to the Highlands. The meal she she served was authentic and delicious, especially the haggis. We loved spending time in her warm and inviting home and so enjoyed her company and conversation. Highly recommend that you spend evening with her as well!

Delightful conversation with the hostess. Authentic, delicious Scottish dishes. All of her ingredients were locally sourced. The venison was especially good, dressed with fresh highland berries. I'm not fond of venison, but hers was delicious.
