This trip had many great parts but also many bad. I will start with the negatives:

Most of this excursion is you travelling.
The drive to the boat is a 28KM journey along one of the worst bumpy road I’ve ever been down. I never get car sick but on the journey to and from the boat I felt very sick. The driver of the mini bus harshly accelerated and braked constantly for the nearly 2hour drive down this road. While I appreciate the conditions of the road were poor and the distance is quite some, there seemed little to no regard for the passenger's and this did put a hinder on the journey.

This was advertised as doing “SNORKELLING” as part of the trip. We were only told as we were returning back that we weren’t doing it. But what I find insane was the tour guide said that there is not a good snorkelling area here and that we never missed out on anything. Then recommended somewhere else to go which would be better. (She isn’t the one who does the trip advertising so at no fault of hers) this is total false advertising as there’s no snorkelling taking place at all. We never even saw a mask or flippers like also advertised.

The lack of facilities which is no fault of tour guides was astounding. We were picked up from our hotel at 06.20 and were met with the first proper WC at 12.00. You could go for a “Jungle toilet” while this isn’t too bad for a male can be quite unpleasant for a female. But of course you can only go for a pee anything more just isn’t possible.

The many good things:

The tour guide was amazing she was extremely knowledgeable spoke very good English (as well as Spanish and French) she was extremely passionate about the wildlife. She also understood that the mosquitoes would hinder and distract us from the information she would tell us. So she saved most of the chat until we were somewhere they wouldn’t bother us. She showed us a hand painted map and explained where we went. Told us where to go for our free time. She was friendly and helped us get out of the boat. Genuinely we couldn’t fault her at all.

The boat has a capacity of 6 people so the groups are always small which is great and feels more personal. The driver of the boat was very friendly and had a great eye for spotting turtles as well as dolphins. The boat was really smooth and he sped up and slowed down for the conditions of the water. He also helped get us in and out of the boat and gave us life jackets.

We were offered drinks throughout the trip of water, coke, and beer. The food was on a little restaurant next to the beautiful Caribbean sandy beach with palm trees. The food options were grilled fish, breaded fish, grilled chicken, breaded chicken, fajitas, quesadillas. So there was something for everyone.

The various birds, we saw dolphins in a pack of between 6-10, we saw 2 sea turtles mating (kept our distance as we didn’t wish to disturb them) the animals were so beautiful and truly worth the time.

So this trip had very mixed feelings. The false advertising is annoying, the travel to the boat was physically painful and unbearable. But the tour guide, boat driver and animals were truly amazing.

Crocodile, dolphins, amorous turtles, bird island, and the beautiful reserve, we were very fortunate with the weather but due to recent storms the snorkelling was not as clear under water.
Very well organised, and even though it’s not that far from Tulum the dirt track roads are very slow.
A must do if you are in the area, and hopefully the ongoing expansion of Tulum doesn’t affect this beautiful place.
I’m not sure what conservation work is in place but it really needs protection.

This tour is amazing. We had Nora as a tour guide. She was very knowledgeable about the area and wildlife. She spoke 3 different languages and explained everything in all 3 languages. We had lunch in Punta Allen, the most beautiful little town. We swam in the natural pools and it was absolutely breathtaking. It is a long, bumpy ride to get to the boat, but 100% worth it. We saw dolphins, sea turtles, lots of birds, and manatees.

Great trip, on which we were so lucky to have encountered many animals. Still, the encounters were kept brief as it may stress out the animals. Knowledge of tourguide Nora was excellent, as well as her enthousiasm. Also, the organization of the whole trip came across as very professional. Next ste: electric bus and boat?

We had an incredible time!
Angel was a great guide, spoke fluent English Spanish and French. Very knowledgeable, easygoing and funny.
The tour itself is super fun and we got to see many different animals such as birds, dolphins, sea turtle and even a shark! The visit to Punta Allen was a pleasant surprise, a relaxing and unique location. It was very important to us to find a tour that does not abuse or take advantage of animals, and I can say they did everything to be respectful of the wildlife. Would definitely recommend!
One thing to keep in mind - the road in the reserve and the boat ride are VERY bumpy. If you suffer from back/neck pain or get nauseous easily I would not recommend, since these rides are not short and you cannot avoid them. Other than that everything was perfect :)

100% recommended excursion!!! They picked us up super punctually at our hotel. The day was spectacular, you see many animals and incredible places. We were able to see a crocodile, numerous types of birds, dolphins, huge turtles, a cat shark about 2 meters long and best of all, we were able to see a manatee and swim with it in a large reef, amazing!!! The stop to eat in a beautiful place and delicious food. Above all, we would like to highlight our wonderful guide NORA, a charming person with excellent treatment towards everyone, it is clear that she loves her job. We would repeat without a doubt!!!

Excellent trip. We were privileged to see so many birds, turtles, dolphins, iguana/lizards as well as an aguti and coatimundi. The land/sea scape was stunning and our guide Nora was fantastic. She was friendly and gave us so much information, not only about the birds and animals but the flora and fauna aswell.
It was thrilling to snorkel and see such a huge reef still alive and thriving. Parrot fish, Ray, Zebra fish and a large Nurse Shark were spotted. So many places I've visited, especially in SE Asia have dying reefs because of pollution and climate change but I was amazed to see so much activity amongst this one.
The bus journey was quite long and may have suited a 4 wheel drive vehicle better but it was to be expected when entering the jungle. The bus was comfortable and had air conditioning and we were provided with a cooler of drinks throughout the day and an amazing buffet lunch in Punta Allen. Thankyou Nora and team, you made our holiday one to remember

Amazing excursion. Our guide Macarena was amazing. Full of joy and energy, giving a ton of anecdotes about the biosphère ans the animals, which made the tour even better. Definitely would do again. The boat captain was amazing at spotting marine animals.

Great outing, very well organized. We pick you up at the hotel and bring you back, an hour's journey on a jungle path (we saw a raccoon), and then a boat trip to see the birds(sea eagles, pelicans, cranes, …). We were lucky enough to see a crocodile, dolphins, a turtle, a shark. We swam with a manatee thanks to our pilot who saw it, and on the way back a mother with her baby. I liked this animal-friendly ride, we don't harass them, we observe them for 5 minutes and the pilot leaves. I recommend 100%. Thanks to Mylene our guide on this outing, who shared with us her passion for this beautiful place.
