Your guide worked at Culloden Battlefield for many years where he taught Highland History and demonstrated how weapons were used at that time. He has a wealth of knowledge in the local area as well as the battle itself. You will be accompanied onto the field of Culloden with an expert on the 18th Century Highlands and Clan Life.

Our tour covers a wide range of famous attractions. From visiting a world-renowned castle on the shores of Loch Ness to sampling Whisky with a dram or two in the Black Isle's last remaining distillery. Experience local life at a Farm with Highland Hairy Coos and other lovable animals. Taste local food and wander around quaint charming villages.

Please know that the Itinerary can change at any time due to unforeseen situations like Castle private events, Operating hours of Exhibition Centres, Distilleries, etc. Rest assured that we can take you to other equally amazing alternative Attraction.

WHAT'S INCLUDED

WHAT TO EXPECT

1. Loch Ness Region
This is your chance to hunt for Nessie. Did you know that she was first sighted way back in the year 565AD? Somewhere in that 23 mile stretch is her home in Loch Ness. That stretch has breathtaking scenic spots that we can take you to.
2. Urquhart Castle
We'll take you to a famous medieval ruins on the shores of Loch Ness. You will have a chance to explore the castle at your leisure. The castle is historically linked as far back as to St. Columba as a Pictish Fort to Robert the Bruce's struggle for independence as a mighty medieval stronghold. Today, its remnant lures film makers like the Outlander TV Show.
3. The Singleton Distillery
Scotland is well-known for its whisky distilleries. We'll visit one that produces a 12 year old, 15 year old and 18 year old single malt whisky exclusively available to the Southeast Asian market only. If you want a Glen Ord whisky, you'll only be able to buy it from Asia or in the distillery itself. They offer their own respective tour to show how their whisky is made and for visitors to taste the distinct flavour of their whisky for additional fees. We leave this up to you to decide as you can alternatively choose to simply wander about their stunning grounds and enjoy a tasting at your own leisure in their cozy bar.

We'll take you to a local farm to have the pleasure of meeting a Hairy Heilan Coo (Highland Cow) and other lovable farm animals. Scottish produce and souvenirs are available in the Farm Shop.
5. Beauly
Beauly has an abundance of charming places to eat. From lovely little cafes to gourmet restaurants to one of the best fish and chips. There's a mix of shops that caters to a wide range of interest. A stroll around the Priory is a must specially for Outlander fans.
6. Culloden Moor
Your Guide worked at Culloden Battlefield for many years. He has a wealth of knowledge in the local area as well as the Battle itself. You would be accompanied onto the field of Culloden with an expert on the 18th Century Highlands and Clan Life.
7. Culloden Battlefield
Locals and Visitors alike come to pay respects to fallen heroes/ancestors. A world class Museum in the Visitor's Centre is available should you wish to know more.
8. Clava Cairns
Have a wander through the mystical 4,000 year old Clava Cairns. Learn the history of the people who built these magnificent structures. Enjoy the peace and tranquility and a bit about The Outlander TV Show too.

• 1. Our Tours are Private. We require a minimum of 2 people per booking, maximum 7.
• 2. Expect a Viator message or an iMessage reminder 2 days before your tour.
• 3. You will be picked-up at your accommodation on the dot and can be dropped-off anywhere you choose within the tour route.
• 4. Wear appropriate, comfortable clothing. Waterproof hiking shoes and jackets are highly recommended. Carry-ons/Backpacks are welcome but Luggage space is limited.
• 5. You can bring lunch or snacks in case we miss restaurants/cafes lunchtime schedule.
• 6. Minors, Seniors and People with Special Needs must always be accompanied by their respective guardians.
• 7. We kindly ask that all participants observe mindful public awareness, respect the environment, wildlife and guidelines. Please be conscious about carbon footprint during the tour.
• 8. For everyone's safety, comfort and well-being, we cannot accommodate the following: i. Children under 5 years old ii. Wheelchair/mobility assistance iii. Anyone with high risk health conditions (i.e expecting a baby, feeling unwell or exhibiting contagious symptoms like cough, heavy sneezing, colds or runny nose). Please do not attempt to join our tour if you are unwell - you will be refused service without a refund. We can alternatively offer you another date within the tour season (depending on availability) iv. Any untoward behaviour in general that presents a danger to themselves or others.
• 9. We will not to be held liable for any accidents, personal injury, damage or loss of property, missed travel schedules or any appointments thereafter.
• 10. Photos and videos taken during our tours may be used for promotional purposes.
• If you have any medical condition, don't forget to bring your prescribed medication or take them before your tour starts. Bring a bug spray if you are prone to insect bites during summer time, meds for motion sickness, etc. Your health, comfort and well-being will ultimately be up to you.

John was the best tour guide and local expert that we have ever experienced! He absolutely engaged everyone in our group in the history and lore of the region! He also customized our experience based on what we were most interested in, such as adjusting the time spent at the castle and Culloden. Our GUIDE JOHN with AYE TOURS was amazing. A true HIGHLANDER. Every second was unforgettable. It was one of the best days ever. He was full of non-stop excitement and was very passionate. I highly recommend this tour. I HONESTLY wouldn't change 1 thing about it.

John is an absolute gem of the Highlands and a real gentleman to boot. His knowledge, passion and experience shone through as he explained the Highlands, its clans, its history and lore to us on this tour.

After a prompt start in Inverness, we enjoyed a casual stroll around Urquhart Castle, a visit to see the Highland coos and the beautiful town of Beauly, before immersing ourselves in the history of Culloden and Clava Cairn.

As we were the only participants on the day, John allowed us to see and explore each site at our own pace which made for a relaxed and enjoyable day out.

The tour guide makes or breaks a tour, and John has a real knack for making the history of the Highlands fun and relatable.
We’ll have fond memories of John and our visit to the Highlands for many years to come!

Best private tour we took during our 19 day trip to Europe. John, our guide, is so authentic and knowledgeable on the history of his country. There was only myself, my husband and son, and we all felt the unique aura of Scotland and we contribute much of that to John. He took us to a little fish and chip place that had the best food of our trip. His personal knowledge of the battle of Culloden brought the battle to life…. Very touching. All I can say is book this tour, you will not be disappointed and you will fall in love with Scotland too thanks to John…. And this comes from a McDonald🤣 John, love from across the pond.

John our tour guide was the real deal. He was very knowledgeable and so entertaining. I can highly recommend this tour and would not hesitate to book agin. Worth every penny… and all the whiskey tastings didn’t hurt!!!

Visiting Culloden battlefield was the main reason we booked our trip to Inverness and we truly couldn’t have asked for a better guide for our day. Not only was John exceptionally knowledgeable about so many things but he was good humoured and instantly made us feel relaxed and welcomed. Not a minute of the day felt rushed but neither were we anywhere too long - it was the perfect balance.
We saw so much more than we anticipated from start to finish.
If you are looking for a tour of this nature, book this one. You can’t get better.

We had a truly brilliant day on this tour. John was a wonderful guide and fantastic company as well. We felt we’d known him for ages within the first hour. John is exceptionally knowledgeable about the local area, clans and the Battle of Culloden. He even educated us - especially me - about whisky. We knew from the reviews and pictures that Aye's Tour from Inverness was going to be awesome, and as John appeared around the corner in his kilt and tartans we knew we picked the right man! He's a natural Highlander - the real deal: the knowledge, the accent, the attitude, the tales and fairy tales! We were lucky to be joined by Teri, his wife and photographer extraordinaire. From the first moment, we felt like old friends. First stop: Urquhart Castle by the shores of Loch Ness. It was a misty, moody day, which fit the profile of this scenic castle. Bring a slicker! Just FYI, a number of steps and steep inclines. Worth it! A quick visit with some Highland Coos. A not so quick visit to the Singleton brewery. Very modern and welcoming. A truly lovely lunch with locals in a great deli with the best mac n cheese I ever tasted. Honestly, everything was fab. Then we were off to Clava Cairns for some Outlander recreations. Clava Cairns feels magical and mystical. Filled with ancient spirits. I was very moved and so glad we stopped there. As the rain started again, we moved onto the Culloden Battlefield...where more ghosts are in the air. Due to John's extensive experience doing battlefield re-enactments, the story of the battles and the people really came alive. He has a way of putting you into the action that makes him a natural storyteller and teacher. We laughed, we sang, we drank! And fell in love with the Highlands and John. Do not hesitate to book one of his tours. Even if he sets the bar impossibly high for any other tour.
