We begin this experience but ATV'ing or Scootering through downtown Tulum towards Muyil. We then explore the structures of Muyil, a Maya archaeological site amid the mangroves of Sian Ka'an, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. This excursion from Tulum takes you to the former trading post along an interpretive nature trail before a boat ride to Muyil Lagoon. Then enjoy a relaxing float down the shallow canal as you drift past unique vegetation. Learn from your guide about the ecology of the area and the Maya civilization before a snack. If I could give 10 stars I would! This was a birthday gift to my wife. Carlos amd Edna we’re not only amazing but by the end of the experience we had made new friends. We opted for the ATV ride over the scooter, it wasn’t to crazy driving from Tulum to Sian Ka’an, Once we arrived we went across the road to Muyil as the ruins had not opened yet., We dined at the “biggest” restaurant in Muyil (10 tables). Best tacos I’ve had so far in Mexico.
Afterwards we headed to the boat and explored the lagoon and floated down the river. So many fish everywhere, the water was crystal clear a few cranes which are always beautiful to look at. After the float we headed to the ruins and learned about the Mayans who lived there in 1200AD. Really interesting history. Headed back to the “biggest” restaurant in Muyil for some beer and more tacos! Overall it was an amazing time. I highly recommend this activity and the people running the business made us feel like family. Can’t wait to come back and try one of their other options.

If you want an adventure and experience Tulum in a different then this tour is a must. From riding ATVs through downtown and out to the ruin site, the boat ride through the lagoons were amazing with the experience of floating down a “lazy river” as a group. Make sure you get Carlos as your guide he’s amazing and will take you to a local restaurant in Muyil which has arguably the best tacos you’ll ever eat. Definitely recommend!
