Very warm and welcoming people. It was like sitting down at a family dinner. Everything we cooked was delicious! Yanti gave great instructions and was very patient while teaching us to cook. Lots of laughter and smiles all around. I would come back any time just to visit this lovely family. 10/10. Hands down.

This entire tour was memorable from beginning to end! It started with an early 7am pickup by Mang Ming in a comfortable Toyota SUV & a short ride to the private home where our cooking class would be held. It was a traditional Balinese Hindu courtyard home with honeymoon lodge, worship altar, etc which was very interesting. After a nice breakfast snack of Mochi like fruit pastries with pandan & cassava, we were taken by the hosts’ son, Chandra, on tour of his village, that included temples, rice paddies, catfish ponds & a botany education on various native fruits & vegetables! Lastly we visited his grandfather’s original jungle Hindu compound with old clay wood burning stove! After this appetite building walk we retired to the newer home to start cooking our lunch. First we were dressed in traditional Balinese clothes, and then my wife & I spent the next half hour cutting & mixing various herbs & spices including fresh turmeric, ginger, garlic, coriander, bay leaves, shallots, & peppers. We used a stone mortar & pestle to grind up these ingredients & mix them with chopped chicken. Then we made satay on skewers & meatballs for soup & helped stir fry & barbecue! Under Yanti’s (Mom’s) tutelage, the resulting meal was excellent, fresh, healthy & tasty! The Sutarsana’s hospitality & education was one of the best tours we have ever had!

What a fabulous day we had! One of the best! We got to meet an incredible family and make balinese dishes for lunch. The food was yummy!! They were most accommodating and saw to our every need while we were there.
Thank you for one of the best days we have had in Bali. We feel blessed to have been in their home.

Was picked up on time and spent an enjoyable time driving up to our cooking destination. Met the lovely Khrisna family, with whom we spent the morning learning about their lifestyle, culture, family and food as we walked through the local village, prepared and cooked a fabulous lunch. We were amazed at how accepting and accommodating they were and loved sharing the meal with them. With fond farewells (and very full bellies) we then travelled to Tanah Lot, where there were wonderful photo opportunities. Would highly recommend this cooking experience for those that want to learn and experience the Balinese culture. Looking forward to doing it again next time.
