My husband and I aren't usually tour group people - we prefer to go it on our own, but we decided not to rent a car in Scotland, so we knew tours would be the best way to see some of the more remote parts of the country. We like to get out into nature and be active when we travel, so I scoured the Internet to find a suitable tour, though it wasn't easy to find many options. This hiking tour was perfect - beautiful scenery, just the right amount of challenge, and excellent storytelling from our guide, Richard. We ended up being the only people on this tour, so I was grateful that Scotland's Wild guarantees departure for their 1-day group tours if there are two bookings. It was an amazing day, capably led by Richard, capped off with a superb meal of fish and chips, cullen skink, sticky toffee pudding, and a whisky at the pub in Balmaha. Wear good hiking boots or shoes, prepare for rain/wind (though we got lucky with the weather), and bring trekking poles if you have them. An unforgettable experience!
