I recommend the Historic Charleston Tour for those with little background on Charleston history. Our leader was very impassioned and anxious for us to have an accurate understanding of the past, particularly the part played in the trade of enslaved people. His mini-lectures were well geared to the younger people in the group. Note that you will not be going inside any buildings. The guide spoke about the sites outdoors. The walking was easy with many stops along the way.

Mike was very friendly and knowledgeable..He demonstrated historical and current anecdotal stories. And he even offered to give our group a ride to the starting point of our next your when it was over.

Mike Frederick did a fantastic job taking us on a historic walking tour of Charleston. He was extremely knowledgeable about the city’s history, prominent figures, and military operations. He was able to answer our questions and could direct the tour to the topics the participants were most interested in. The tour was fun, easy to walk, and a relaxing history lesson that we will remember. He even went so far as to drive us back to our cars and show us which restaurants were the best in town. We would definitely recommend taking this guided tour - ask for Mike!

This tour sticks right around the Battery neighborhood. It is easy walking. Tour guide Mike H is very knowledgable of Civil War history in that area. He throws in current history too, as he lives in that neighborhood. The tour lasted about two hours. I thought it was a great tour and I recommend it to all Civil War buffs!
