Guided by Timothy Trouche, an eighth-generation Charleston native and third generation Charleston tour guide, you will learn the unique history of the pirates who plagued Charles Town in its early days, the many patriots who defended the city over the last three centuries and how prohibition shaped the way of life in Charleston in the early 20th century.
Share in Tim’s hometown knowledge of the city’s rich history while enjoying charming views of the Charleston harbor, cobblestone streets, buildings and monuments that date as far back as the late 1600s.
*Please note that this is not a ghost tour but does cover some historical discussion that may not be appropriate for children under the age of 13.

Timothy is an AMAZING tour guide. This was one of the best things that we have done on our Charleston trip. He was packed full of so much information, and historical information that was new to us, and not heard anywhere else. I would totally recommend him and his tour. It was completely worth it.

Timothy was passionate about his city and very knowledgeable about both the history of the city and its context within US history. Make sure that you tell him if you are British ;) The evening tour is limited by city regulation to the wharf/French Quarter areas, so do not expect to see “South of Broad” homes. Timothy adjusted the tour to accommodate our 8:00 dinner reservation at Poogan’s Porch and it was a lovely taste of Charleston for our short stay.

Amazing tour! Tim has such a vast knowledge of history. I was lucky to go on the first run of the Pirates, Patriots & Prohibition tour and it did not disappoint. So many beautiful sights and being in the evening, it was a great way to beat the summer heat!
