The Lares Trek was brutal for me and my family. The combination of the steep mountains, altitude sickness, early mornings, and muscle fatigue was more challenging than we expected.
Thankfully. Alpaca Expeditions was incredibly accomodating and organized. The trip is meticulously planned out and generous in its food, drink, and shelter. All the employees are so dedicated and I can’t imagine doing their jobs. Our tour guide Raul was so kind and intelligent and knowlegable. He physically supported me when I was in too much pain and too short of breath to keep walking. He is a walking encyclopedia on this amazing country. I am so grateful for him!

Raul Alvarez is the greatest of all time. He made the experience so much more comfortable and enjoyable! Definitely a hard trek but help from our guide and team boosted morale.

The most amazing trip I ever went on. I don’t regret a single thing. Keep in mind it is not easy on the second day but the 3rd day makes it worth it.
The attention to food and details was impeccable. I am gluten-free and dairy free and they paid more attention to my restrictions than I did.
100% recommended!

Did the Lares hike with the short inca trail added. Overall a great experience with Alpaca. Very professional and everything was well organized. We were taking care of from the first pick up to the end. We had great guides. Aldair was our guide for the Lares trek. He was great, good interaction with guests and knew how to motivate you for the difficult hike. He was able to adapt and help us when needed, from his words he always had a plan a, b and c which was true. He was great! We did the short Inca trail with Soledad. She was awesome as well! She was a great guide, she kept us on track for the hike and helped us through all the small details along the way. Both Aldair and Soledad are great assets to Alpaca. Overall, it was a great experience. Alapaca was able to make some last minute changes when we decided to change from a camp night to a hotel. There is a reason why Alpaca has so many good reviews, they know what they are doing to make your Peru experience great!

Me and my friends had a wonderful time on a tour guided by Russel Apaza Alvarez. He was incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and attentive for our group. He kept everything organized, got us where we needed to go at a pace that was comfortable for us and ensured we had some great photos as memories. We knew Russel would be professional as soon as we met him the day before we set off but his focus on making this trip great was unmatched. I highly recommend Alpaca and specially Russel to anyone looking to do a trek in Peru!

My family and I had a great time on the Lares Valley Trek with our wonderful guide, Aldair aka "Big Al"! He completed a 3 year program to become an expert in the history, fauna, and vegetation of the area plus first aid. He's led groups on all of the Alpaca Expeditions treks over more than 10 years so he knows the best photo spots and where to find the burrowing spots for Chinchillas.
The food that Marco and Fortunata were able to make from a sitting position with cutting boards in their laps was amazing. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner were all freshly made and varied each time. The dining tent was an excellent way to stay out of the icy winds but my rear end didn't particularly enjoy the plastic stool seating.
My wife had a personal need that the porters were able to rectify by the time we woke up on the second day by traveling back to Lares. A person from another family on the trip wasn't able to complete the climb on day 2 so the wonderful horsemen saddled her up and helped her to the peak. No problem was left unhandled by this crew so rest assured that all your fears can be overcome.

The Lares trek was an absolutely brilliant experience, made more amazing by our tour guide Aldair, who helped/encouraged us and was incredibly informative about the region and the culture. As a solo female traveller I never felt unsafe or lonely, everyone was incredibly friendly! I am also vegetarian and the chef, Marco, did a wonderful job at accommodating all diet restrictions in the group while making incredible food! Thank you so much, for making this trip such a wonderful experience, I cannot recommend the company enough!

We had a wonderful experience in Peru without Ivan coronel and victor Suma our guides we wouldn’t have done it, they were amazing, professional, wonderful, passionate about their job and very polite and nice. They had all the kindness, knowledge and flexibility we loved them so much we couldn’t have enjoyed it without them. If we come again would ask for both Ivan and Victor the best guides ever. From the coca tea in the morning to the hot water, they set up the tents for us cooked the best meals for us and we enjoyed their company, their jokes, them taking pictures and when I wasn’t feeling well they went out of their way to check on me and get me hot water. Absolutely the best guides recommend them all the way

Actually did the 5 day/4 night Lares Trek & 2 Day Inca Trail. Ono was our guide and we had some people drop out last minute so it was just me and him the first 3 days but it was still the most amazing trip. The views are stunning, the Quechan people we met along the way were fascinating, and the food was AMAZING. I ate better the 5 days on the trail than I did in cusco. Alpaca takes care of all the details so all you have to do to have an amazing trek is be where they tell you when they tell you. Can't recommend this company and their amazing staff enough.

This 4 day trip has been everything I could have wished for and more. Thanks to our wonderful tour guides Joyce, Rosalinda and Ingrid we were able to see all these wonderful sights and learn about their backgrounds. I want to especially point out the incredible knowledge of the guides which they transmitted in a very catching and understandable way. They made everyone feel welcome and part of our family, which also included the porters and chef. Also they did a truly incredible job! With Mijael as a cook and Ezequiel as head porter the food was the best I have eaten in all of Peru, and we were able to enjoy a super well organised trip. Thank you for this wonderful experience!
