The next highlight is the City of the Sound of Music - Salzburg, where you will have free time to stroll through the same scenes in the Old Town that you can see in the film and enjoy the world capital of classical music.
After experiencing the cultural side of Salzburg, you'll head out to explore the natural beauty of the Salzkammergut lake region – Wolfgangsee lake and St. Gilgen town.
The next highlight of the trip is the unique village of Hallstatt, located right on the shores of an Alpine lake with an amazing view of the huge mountains rising steeply from a narrow valley.
On the way back we´ll stop at the charming resort town Traunkirchen, located on the shore of Austria's deepest lake.

Booked this “private tour” as a splurge to maximize exposure. to Austria outside of Vienna during a family vacation.
2 key things to know :
1) not really a “tour,” rather a driver to take you from place to place
2) itinerary too ambitious for one day with 7 + hours of driving to cover all 3 sites
The driver was prompt and courteous , but immediately at pick -up encouraged us to pick either Halstadt or Salzburg and to skip the Abbey at Melk. He was right in that it is too much driving to visit all 3 in one day .
We had a mechanical problem which required us to forego Salzburg, but even without it … we would have only had 45-60 mins in Salzburg .
If it seems too good to be true , it probably is !!!
Recommend taking train to either Salzburg or Halstadt on your own and saving $$.

July 2023 was amazing & fun. I loved the beautiful houses and the lake was interesting. I also got special souvenirs.
