The guide is a certified professional in diving (Divemaster and Guide) and Biology. It is an activity that guarantees you observe green turtles within their natural habitat. Remember that they are free animals and therefore wild.

We booked with Darwin direct before we arrived on the recommendation of other guests.
The booking was smooth, Darwin advised us how to get there, and on the day met us on the walk down towards the beach.
Darwin explained everything before we entered the water and made sure we were comfortable with our masks.
He then took us out and wow, what can we say, it was an amazing experience and was made better by the personal service from Darwin, he is such a friendly guy, attentive to our needs and a very good guide.
The photos and videos he took were amazing, some of the images captured, we could not have done this with our own camera.
It's one for the memory book.
If you are thinking about booking, do not hesitate and book with Darwin.

Positives: The providers were kind and flexible in our booking, allowing us to reschedule due to weather for a date that worked for us. They also provided a prescription mask upon request for our family member with bad eyesight - a lifesaver, and Marlene loaned us her own 100 peso bill for the locker rental. Darwin graciously pulled us (3 adults) all around the reef on a life raft, even as decent swimmers we would've struggled to keep up without it as the snorkels added an extra layer of difficulty. He also managed to locate many turtles for us and it was wonderful to see them so close up.
He offered to take photo and video on a GoPro for an extra tip, the quality varied greatly, many are just blurry photos of the turtles but others capture the turtles swimming in higher quality and us in the background. Overall I would recommend taking this option.
In terms of negatives, one of us found the snorkel to be quite painful, to the point that their nose was sore for days afterwards. There were many rules about body positioning and where to hold the raft, in order to keep the turtles safe and maximize our experience, but at times his manner of correction was a little aggressive in tone.

Darwin was an incredible tour guide! I went snorkeling with my seven-year-old daughter and it was her first time and he made us both feel so comfortable and prepared! He was able to find at least seven or eight turtles for us and explained everything so that we felt safe and prepared. I highly recommend this tour to anyone, especially for those with young children! It was a truly magical experience.

Amazing experience with a professional and ver knowledgeable guide. It’s a private tour for just your group and the guide does his best too find you sea turtles. We were lucky enough too see 16. He takes his go pro too take pictures for you. Would highly recommend and would do it all again in a heart beat.

Our family had an amazing experience. We had 2 extra guests than originally planned. Darwin and Marlene were more than accommodating. We seen several sea turtles among other sea life. They took pictures as well as videos of everyone with their GoPro and shared them with us at no extra cost.

An absolutely amazing experience seeing these beautiful turtles in their natural environment I 100% recommend this too anyone we did this 12/6/2024. Darwin & Marlene really make you feel comfortable and safe and ensure you get the best from the experience, they are both so friendly and welcoming. They are very passionate about looking after the turtles. I would do this again in a heartbeat Catherine & John xx

Highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend Marlene and Darwin for your Akumal turtle snorkeling experience. They know their stuff, they are highly organized and professional, and love/respect the safety of the turtles at all times. I took my 62 year old aunt who was sorta worried/anxious but we felt very safe with Darwin. Worth every penny!! We saw about 4-5 species of fish, corals and reefs and about 16 turtles!!!!

My family of 5 including my husband and 3 boys (ages 4, 9 & 12) had a trip out to see the sea turtles with Darwin last week when we were in Mexico. Oh my goodness, what a fantastic experience! I would highly recommend this company. Darwin was so kind and reassuring. We or not experienced snorkelers and we were quite apprehensive. He was excellent with our 4 year old who didn’t really want to do it. Darwin brought a ring attached to a rope that my child was able to hold onto the whole time which made him feel safe. Therefore, I was able to enjoy the experience. We even got our little one to have a look under the water when we were near the turtles. We were all blown away by the experience. We were staying in a hotel only 5 minutes and made The mistake of getting a taxi from the hotel which cost £40 one way (800 MXN) because there was 5 of us. For 4 people it would’ve cost £20 which is still a lot for a short journey. We got the bus back to the hotel which was very cheap! So I would suggest looking into this beforehand so you are not caught out with an expensive travel like us. Thank you so much Marine Life Akumal for wonderful memories and fantastic underwater photographs. We have already recommended you to someone in the UK who is coming to Mexico soon x

This is the most incredible experience my wife and I had. Darwin is the best tour guide you could possibly have. He goes the extra mile to make sure you have the best tour ever and see incredible sea life as well as the amazing turtles. We saw more turtles than I could count and Darwin got the best pictures ever of us with the turtles. Such an incredible experience.
