We had the best time yesterday with Pepe. He was very knowledgeable and passionate about the Mayan culture and people. We learned so many things. My children were fascinated to learn about Chichenitza, and Pepe answered all their questions with as much historical accuracy as possible. I would recommend Pepe to anyone going to Chichenitza.

I can only confirm all the excellent reviews made about visiting Chichen Itzá with Pepe as a guide: he is truly an AMAZING guide!! He is extremely interesting, clear and most importantly: he masters Mayan history! Pepe used to be a history teacher: he has a ton of knowledge and knows how to captivate an audience! We could not have chosen a better guide!

Pepe was very communicative and easygoing. He spoke English very well and was incredibly knowledgeable about Maya history, culture and archaeology! He brought photos to help us visualize different parts of the ruins and gracefully avoided larger tour groups without it taking away from our experience :). Pepe set a very high standard for tour guides we'll search for in the future!

Pepe was a wonderful tour guide. He is very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the Maya and Mayan culture. He was very patient and flexible with us and our two kids (4 and 7), and he worked hard to keep them engaged and answer their questions. I would highly recommend him!

Pepe was the perfect tour guide, full stop. He is incredibly knowledgeable, providing us with nothing but interesting information far beyond the Chichén Itzá site. What really blew us away is how he clearly stays informed on new developments in archaeology, anthropology, history… to tell the story in a detailed and nuanced way, but ever so colourful through his passion and engagement with the subject. I rarely write reviews, but I recommend Pepe’s tour wholeheartedly!

Jose is kind and easy to schedule. Communication via What’s App prior to meeting was helpful. Jose is a scholar with a deep understanding of his ancient Mayan culture. The source of his information is based on personal experience and the most recent research. Touring the site with him is really a learning experience. Jose was excellent at gauging our interest level and providing the tour that suited us. We are grateful for our time together.

Pepe was a superb guide. From pre tour arrangements around meeting and advice on parking and avoiding hassle on arrival at Chichen Itza, to the tour itself, he was totally helpful and informative. What marked out Pepe’s guided tour around the site was his deep knowledge and reading on the Maya and his perspective having travelled not just across Mexico but more widely Latin America. We gained a real insight into the nature of Chichen Itza and its people and development, and the remaining unsolved mysteries. Great context around the Spanish settlement and impact on the Maya too. Great length - we were with him for about 3 hours and covered heaps. Highly recommend.
