BECAN is the beginning of the most impressive Mayan cities. This ceremonial center was the regional capital of what is known as the "Río Bec" area in the south of the Yucatán Peninsula. It has the most massive buildings and was completely surrounded by a water moat. Here you will find reliefs, sculptures, a ball game, palaces, an astronomical observatory, and public and private spaces.

Our tour guide Vald was such a lovely man and extremely knowledgeable about the whole area and culture of the Mayans. We were able to climb the temples and the view from the top was magical. We only saw one other couple the entire time. Highly recommend visiting.
