This was the best tour we have ever been on. My wife and I are we’re on our honeymoon, and Marinos made us feel so welcome. During our tour we visited villages, stopped to see the panoramic views, met friends and family, shared delicious fresh fruits and delicacies, and genuinely had a great time. This was all in addition to the sites that we visited. We truly felt like family on this tour. Thank you and please come visit us in on the west coast of the US in Oregon!

Marinus was an excellent guide. he is entertaining and very knowledgeable. He spoiled us with little surprises all the way. This was a rich cultural experience yet very comfortable, traveling in his airconditioned minibus. Lunch was at a very authentic restaurant and service was excellent. This trip was 100% worth every cent. You will not regret it.

Just What We Wanted
Recently, my wife and I were in Crete as part of a 15-day vacation around the Aegean. We chose a tour with Marinos at VIP Tours. All of our tour guides in Turkey, Athens, and Santorini were great, but Marinos at VIP Tours was, by far, the best.
He made tourists feel like family. Our tour consisted of a couple from Manchester (UK), a mother and son from the Netherlands, and my wife and I from PA (US). Marinos invited us along on a tour that balanced the story of the history, along with an exploration of the industry (olive oil, pottery, and agriculture. During the day, we walked with Marinos around villages and towns. He seemed to know everyone. He often asked permission to pick an herb from a garden or some fruit from a cherry tree. We hobnobbed with goats. We shared a few good meals. Some of them were in the middle of a quiet side road with his father-in-law, his partner, and they set out a table with snacks and Raki. We enjoyed this hospitality and in the process of the day became something of a family. We gave the young Dutch fellow some relational advice.
Marinos also gave super advice and made helpful connections along the way. He recommended that we pool our funds and get a tour guide for the Palace at Knossos. This part of the trip was fabulous. The tour guide that Marinos chose was knowledgeable and passionate about Knossos.
There were plenty of times to purchase, but no pressure.
Using Unique Crete: VIP was one of the best choices on our trip and we look forward to our next trip to Crete, and if we can get there we will be going VIP.

It's true that our guide, Marinos, took us to all the places mentioned on this tour's itinerary. All of these places were wonderful to visit, and we would have had a hard time arranging transport without him driving us to these spots. Also, he was incredibly knowledgeable about all of those places, answering many of my detailed questions about the Minoans, the Palace of Knossos, Greek Mythology, and lots of other topics. And, of course, he was a friendly and expert conversationalist the whole time.
But what made the trip special was the care Marinos took when he realized what we were interested in, as well as the care he took in showing us things that weren't listed on the tour. When he realized I was interested in local author, Nikos Kazantzakis, he went out of his way to show us where Kazantakis got married, wrote parts of "Zorba the Greek," and where the author's wife was born. When he realized my group had interest in 20th Century history, he showed us a local memorial for villagers who had died in WWI, WWII, and the Greek Civil War. We also loved how he helped show us Cretan village life for us, which we never would have experienced if we'd just taken day trips to the sites on this tour. Some of the most memorable moments from our tour came from village coffee shops or merchants that we never would have found if Marinos had not shown them to us. Perhaps the most charming bit of the tour was how, when Marinos saw fresh herbs or fruits growing from the side of the road, he would stop the car to grab a bit and allow us to sample it. It was a wonderful touch that really did make the tour feel Unique (as Unique Crete Tours advertises).
In summary, this was a wonderful tour. My family greatly enjoyed it, and we'd happily book another tour with Marinos.

Excellent private tour. Mari is was amazing. Very friendly and informative. You can see the real Crete! Nice lunch at delicious restaurant with great view.
