Great tour for a day in San Francisco. Alcatraz and the bay cruise were awesome. I was not expecting everything to do at peir 39, so either before or after the bay cruise, lots of cool sights. Great communication and easy transaction to get the tickets. Highly recommend.

The tour operator did a great job of making up for some early problems. The phone number for the tour operator did not work and I did not receive information on the tour 72 hours or 48 hours before the tour. I was coming from out of town and was getting quite concerned. I did finally connect with him 24 hours before. He was able to reassure me and send my tickets to me by text. This was a great relief. As it would have been very difficult to get to the Post Street address to get the tickets and then get back to Pier 33 for the Alcatraz Tour. I felt that Viator did not make it clear at the time I purchased the tour, that I was receiving a voucher, and not the tickets, until after I had purchased the tour. For people from out of town, having to go to 551 Post Street in the morning before a tour is very inconvenient. The tour operator came to the rescue, at the last minute, saving me the parking in downtown to pick up tickets at Viator! All was good on the Alcatraz tour.

From start to finish this has to be the most must do place to visit whilst visiting Sanfransisco.
The ferry is at pier 33 and runs quite regularly. The journey across can be a bit cool so advice to take a warm top with you. Once at the islan it is advised to wait near to the jetty area and wait for the guided tour up the slope which is very very interesting and informative. Once at the entrance to the jail itself then you are given a audio device to listen to the jails history and its inmates as you walk around it. A brilliant tour which has cell door opening and closing demonstrations as well as talks on some of its more famous inmates such as Al- Capone. All in all very very injoyabke.
Adviced to take your own snacks etc to eat as there is no shop on the island to sell food and you can only eat in the vicinity of the pier.
