I signed up for this as it seemed like a unique walking tour of Rethymnos. I read over all the details. The time 8 pm worked for me around other plans I had. I received my confirmation and went on with my day. I used the link for directions in the confirmation and entered it in Google Maps. As I was walking there (arrival time planned was for 750 pm 10 mins early) I received a WhatsApp Text at 746 pm from the tour operator asking if I was coming and should they wait for me. I was a little surprised but answered that I was nearby. I reached the point of directions and didn’t see anyone. I asked the tour operator to send me a link and this took me to the correct location. She explained the concept and provided the headphones. The walk commenced. The narrative was the experience of young people and the challenges they have in modern day Greece. It touches on love, family, society etc. The walk did take you on some short areas of rough rocky terrain and some steep steps including old stone steps with no railing. Another gentleman on the tour was kind enough to shine the light on his phone for me in some areas which were a bit more difficult to walk on and see. The tour operator just walked at a reasonable pace on the path looking ahead but did not check our progress even occasionally. I enjoyed seeing vantage points of the city that I wouldn’t have before. The concept was very unique and imaginative. At 57 I didn’t relate to some of it but that’s ok. At the end of the tour we sat for a few minutes. She asked how it was. I stated I didn’t entirely relate to the second half but enjoyed it. She responded with (don’t remember exact wording) everyone loves it as if my opinion was at odds with previous participants. I mentioned the rough terrain and that I wouldn’t have worn FitFlops (not flip flops but sturdier sandals I’ve worn all over and walked long distances in). She responded with the notes in Viator indicated what footwear to wear. (I’m paraphrasing). I went back and looked and it didn’t. She had also mentioned that she forgot to update the time of the tour but sent me an email to update the time. After returning to my hotel I looked at email. I saw the one she sent with updated time to arrive at 715 that had better instructions on where to meet. A subsequent one said ‘please confirm’. When I booked the tour it indicated on Viator that the tour had to be confirmed. I saw this email as I was looking out for confirmation and did respond. I had no idea a previous email had been sent with updated time and meeting location. I’ve taken a lot of Viator and other tours over the years but this was not at par in organization. To change the time, to say you indicated footwear when you didn’t, the limitations listed was back problems and heart problems nothing else. She pleasantly gaslighted me for things that resulted from her lack of organization. The tour operator is not a medical professional and it would have been more helpful to indicate steep steps and rocky areas and let someone decide to participate. Many tours in Crete indicate rocky terrain and to wear sneakers or hiking shoes which I would have if I’d known. After returning to my hotel, reading the description and info on Viator, after looking at the multiple communications i felt the need to write this review.

It was amazing! I was impressed by the original idea and the experience the project provided
was extraordinary and definitely much needed!! I have to say I came back for a second time and I still didn't het enough of it! 1000% would recommend!

I live in Rethymno and that was the first time i saw something from this point of view. From the starting point you wear the headphones they give you and the walk starts! Great music and narration and walk through beautiful places! Something different! I totally suggest it!

Volta must be experienced by every visitor who comes to Rethymno. At first u will walk in small streets where u will not find them by your own. Then u will be surrounded by people with headphones in their ears and you will hear some thoughts that all the people have ,you will have the experience of letting your imagination run free and traveling into your soul!

A unique, great experience! It's great to walk and listen to her story! We had the chance to walk in small paths and siscover the new and the old city. The story and the music are great, with philosophical meaning and questions.

The experience was amazing. Combines the discovery of parts of the city in another way, through the audio narration. Excellent texts and music. I would do it again.
