The tour was one of if not the most amazing and memorable tours I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. There was an abundance of relevant historical stories and tales that kept the tour interesting whilst also adding in some humour and depth. We also managed to walk around to quite a few different places, yet the pacing was very well planned so your feet do not become sore. There was enough stopping and walking so that you could see a lot of buildings, incredible views and learn about the amazing history of Edinburgh. 100% would recommend :)

This was the best tour I have ever been on.
Robert was absolutely amazing in showing us great views of Edinburgh and teaching us about different historical relevancies. I recommend Robert to tourists and even locals who are striving to learn more about their Edinburgh surroundings.

Robert is absolutely fantastic. This tour was the highlight of our trip to Scotland and England. He's a fantastic storyteller, has superb knowledge to share, and really looked after us (incl. being inclusive and culturally sensitive). Also - some great jokes, tailored to our Australian school group. I strongly recommend Robert’s tours!

Robert’s tour was the absolute highlight of Edinburgh. We are a couple in our 40s and go on private tours on all vacations. This was the best of the all.
1. Booking:
Message him directly if the web indicates he’s sold out. We tried well in advance and he was able to work us into his day.
2. Kind and accommodating:
We had booked a Greyfriars Kirkyard tour. When Robert learned our time in Edinburgh was cut short, he altered the tour to include other important sites.
3. Smart, fun and interesting:
Robert is a teacher by profession. This is clear in his excitement and the way he explains history. My husband loses interest easily but was listening the entire time.
4. Considering booking for different areas in different days:
If we had another day, we would have tried to have us take us on a different tour.

We really enjoyed our tour with Robert. He was engaging and the pace of the tour was perfect. We visited a number of areas just off the Royal Mile and he pointed out some excellent photo opportunities. Well worth the investment and we would thoroughly recommend.

This is a must do must see tour! Robert turns the history of Scotland into an epic story packed with the history and knowledge of the land. He clearly loves his job and enjoys meeting with people. He made memories with me family! I also want to see that his communication via email was superb and he was flexible…just plain awesome!

My family had a wonderful time on this tour. Robert was very attentive to our needs and frequently checked on our comfort level while walking in the random showers. He was a great historian and storyteller. Would definitely recommend for anyone wanting to learn the history of Edinburgh.

We thoroughly enjoyed Robert’s narrative of the early history of Scotland and in particular Edinburgh. Robert is very knowledgeable, funny and engaging throughout our 2-1/2 hour tour. We saw parts of Edinburgh aside from the Miracle Mile and concluded the tour at Grayfriar’s cemetery. There was not a dull moment and we highly recommend Robert and his private tour. Money well-spent!
