Get the most out of your visit to Colombia with this two-in-one combo farm tour! Share with real coffee and cocoa farmers as you pick, peel, grind, roast and taste the product of your own labor. This is a hands-on experience spending your day at real, small family farms. This tour does not take you to overrun tourist traps, the farms you visit here are owned by real coffee & cacao growers. We also guarantee red beans for picking year round. Don't miss out!

Note: There is ongoing road construction south of the city affecting access to all of the coffee and cacao farms in the region. This can potentially extend your tour time up to 60 minutes due to unscheduled road closures. This is also a GROUP tour and you MAY join other travelers at ANY point during the day.

Andes Eco Tours gave us such a unique and special opportunity to see behind the curtain of typical tourism. For a day, we were invited to the homes of lovely, hard-working families to see what it takes to produce some of the most traded agricultural products: Coffee & Chocolate! Diego and Hector were wonderful guides, and we felt completely safe and cared for as we drove through South Bogota and into the rural mountain region.
This experience was well-planned, and we got to participate in nearly every step of the production of these products. My husband and I had our two young sons with us (ages 7 & 9), and our hosts were so kind and considerate towards us and our boys! The provided lunch was also delicious :)
I recommend this experience to anyone who desires to see a true, working Colombian homestead producing some of the world's most desired commodities!

Thank you again for this opportunity and for an amazing day!

I it was absolutely amazing! We booked the English speaking guide and it was perfect. This is so much more than a turist thing, it was a personal thing, with people who opens up their home for you, amazing!

I must admit that there was a lot of driving involved for this trip, because the coffee and chocolate farms are outside of the city. The roads are also a bit rough in places as you are going over a mountatin.
That said, I really enjoyed the trip and my guide Juan was excellent. He was very enthusiastic and well-informed, and made sure I was happy with my experience. Visiting the coffee and chocolate farms was so interesting! I loved learning about the process of growing and producing coffee beans and chocolate.

Really great, guide was really nice and a great driver, picked us up and dropped us off great, and both the coffee farm and cacao farm were really fun. Also both had puppies and kittens which were great. Everyone was super nice and very accommodating for our so-so/bad Spanish. Highly recommended.

An intense and informative trip. Yes it's a long drive, but it's worth it. And even the drive itself is informative, as our guide regaled us with stories about Bogotá and Colombia. He talked about history, day to day living, and more.

The farms themselves were incredible. We picked coffee. We saw cocoa pods growing on trees. We witnessed firsthand the experience of making coffee and chocolate. Everyone was warm and welcome and very kind.

Lunch was provided and the meal was excellent. Our driver did a fantastic job. We stopped to take photos of scenery and birds along the way. Bogotá traffic can be a little crazy. Experiencing that was interesting and we both felt very safe with our driver.

An amazing experience. Intense and fulfilling.

Can't say enough good things about this experience. It was hands down our favorite activity during our stay in Bogota. The company is very responsive via WhatsApp. We were promptly picked up at our AirBnB and our driver was great. Our guide was amazing as well. The farms we visited were tiny and the owners were very personable despite the language barrier. It was amazing seeing some of our favorite foods go from plant to finished product in front of ours. It gives you a lot of perspective on products you might take for granted. I highly recommend this tour, it is well worth the money!!!

I noticed a recent review complaining about the amount of driving, lunch, and lack of engagement by the guide among other things. The downside of the tour is definitely the amount of driving so be prepared to deal with this anytime you leave the city. We were "lucky" with traffic according to our driver and still spent the bulk of our time in the car. Bogota's traffic is horrible. I recommend a mid-week tour to alleviate traffic a little. It's just something you have to deal with for this type of experience. Our vehicle was modern and handled well on all the roads. The mountain roads can be really bumpy, so keep that in mind. We took anti-nausea medicine before we left. I'd recommend the same if you are prone to car sickness at all.

Our guide was completely engaged with us the whole time. I can only speak of my experience. Every guide is different, but ours was great.

The food for lunch was nothing fancy. But as a traveler I want to try the foods the locals eat. This is definitely what we got. It's hard to believe there were even restaurants in these remote areas.

Don't waste your day!! Trust me. I was visiting Columbia for the very first time, for only a weekend, and I'm going to be completely honest, I took 4 other tours that weekend and all of them were cheaper and included more and didn't take the entire day! I wish that I had known up front, that 90% of my day was going to be spent in a van, on bumpy roads, in the mountains, with an inexperienced driver, in a van that was a safety hazzard and should not have been in those mountains in the first place. Maybe the ride would not have been as uncomfortable if the tour guide had spent a little bit more time engaging with us instead of the driver. She spent all of her time talking to the driver in Spanish and we were all sitting in the back seats just looking out the window. The advertisement originally said that we would be "Spending the day" at local farms. That was false advertisement, and since I recently made a complaint, the owner of the tour company has now changed their advertisement to reflect that half of the day will be in a vehicle, which is still incorrect, because we definitely still spent more than half the day in a vehicle. Nonetheless, now that I made a complaint, they have revised their advertisement. We booked an English tour and there were four other people on our tour that spoke spanish, so the tour guide spent most of the time communicating with them in Spanish and we didn't understand anything they were saying. Yes the tour guide was friendly, when she was interacting with us, which was only when she was trying to translate what the farmers were saying, but for the price that we paid, the experience was below average and the advertisement was very misleading. When we got to the Farms, the farmers were extremely friendly and knowledgeable, but we did not spend much time there. Maybe 1 hour maximum at each farm and there was only two farms. We stopped for lunch which was a vegetarian lunch. Basically a plate of rice, and egg, beans, some pumpkin, a sweet banana, and a bowl of soup. I think for $320, only receiving lunch is a little unfair. We were picked up at 8:36 a.m. and did not get back to our hotel until 10:30 p.m. That left no time for dinner. There were several delays on the road and the tour guide thought that it was appropriate to buy us "a snack" to compensate for our discomfort which was an arrepa from the side of the road, when we stopped for a bathroom break after hours in the van. I can tell you this, I took two tours the very next day and only paid $180 for two people for two separate tours and a meal was included on each of those tours, so $180 for two tours, for two people, verse $320 for one tour, for two people and the only thing we got was an espresso cup of coffee, a bite of chocolate, a plateful of carbs for lunch, stiff knees, and a sore back for the rest of the weekend. Save your time and money! Take a different tour. You will thank me later!

It is important to spend time learning and seeing the rest of the country as it is outside of Bogota. That is why we booked this tour to see how the country is supporting it’s important small coffee and cacao farmers. What a great time with Andrés and Gabriela learning about the history and culture of the country and the people we met at the farms and in the countryside. Truly a must do!

The driver and guide are top notch! The rough terrain to reach the places coffee and cocoa grow are not easy to traverse. A 4 wheel vehicle and experienced driver are necessary. The experience of meeting the farmers and producers was wonderful. Also being a part and participating in the process was an awesome experience. It was amazing to view the varied landscapes and temperatures of the mountains. This is a once in a lifetime tour.

My husband and I did the Coffee and Cacao Tour with Andres. He is incredibly patient, knowledgeable, and has great respect for all the coffee and cacao farmers he works with. He shared with us a lot of history about the coffee industry and struggles of Colombian farmers that is not well known. It's obvious that this company cares a lot about the community and the people with whom it works. If you want a unique, authentic experience with a sincere and well-run organization, then you can't get better than Andes Ecotours. We'll definitely plan to try their other tours.
