Experience the century-old artisanal way of harvesting coffee beans while visiting a real small family farm. This is a hands-on experience where you will pick, grind and roast your own beans and get to taste some of the smoothest coffee in the world! This tour guarantees red beans for picking year-round and it is hosted at a local family farm, not a large commercial coffee plantation.

We began this tour back in 2013 when few people even knew that coffee plants were harvested in the nearby lands of Bogotá. We are the first and oldest coffee tour in the Bogotá region. Don't miss out!

Note: This tour lasts between 8 and 10 hours from start to finish with 3.5 hours spent in coffee lands and points of interest. The coffee farm is located about 2.5 hours from our departure point in the city.

Beautiful location. Learned the process from start to finish. Picked the beans, peeled them, roasted them, “skinned” them, ground them up, made the coffee, and drank it. Then a nice lunch…everything organic and home grown. A delightful experience, and a sweet family, embracing you like one of their own. Can’t say enough good things about this tour.

The tour group was great! Both our driver and tour guide were really nice and informative during the entire tour. I will say that the coffee farm itself is very small. The drive is about 3 hours each way (the traffic is insane). For us, it took 5 hours to drive home because of the traffic and a car accident. In my opinion, its not worth spending 6 hours in a car for the 1 hour coffee tour.

This tour was a lot of fun!! What made it stand it out from the other tours was the hands-on nature of the tour. Instead of simply watching other people perform various stages of the coffee production, you actually got to collect coffee beans, remove the shells, grind the beans, winnow them, and roast them. You got to experience what being on a coffee farm was like. Also, the tour guide was helpful and the farmers were friendly and hospitable. If you visit Bogotá, I would highly recommend this tour.

My partner and two teens and I did this tour, the kids were very reluctant about an all day coffee tour, but this turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. We all really enjoyed it. You really get to learn first hand how coffee is made. You experience the whole things, textures, smells, tastes, picking, crushing, grinding, roasting, all of it, and it's just wonderful. We had two guides and they were very informative, knowledgeable, and just all around like-able individuals. Food was excellent also. We were provided a meal at the cafetal that was lovely, and we also stopped at a little place on the way to the cafetal where the guides made some great recommendations. Overall, wonderful experience, highly recommend.

I enjoyed climbing on the side of the hill to pick the coffee while learning about everything that can affect the taste. Every step of the process, from picking the berries to removing the skin to drying, roasting, and brewing, was done old-school. They also served an excellent homemade lunch.

This was a fun and educational tour. We ended up also joining the cacao tour.

Jose was super nice, lots of great history / information about Colombia, Bogota. Hector was a terrific driver. We hit the famous Bogota traffic early on due to road construction so getting to the coffee plantation later. Stopped for a quick stretch in Silvania and got some baked treats for the road. Town had a celebration in the square so that was fun to see the local lived.

The countryside views was amazing and the biodiversity / climate was very interesting. It was like driving through the Amazon forest. Coffee plantation was fun and Jose was so interactive with the group. Carlos (coffee plantation owner) walked through the coffee making process and even hands on and got to drink the amazing coffee afterwards. The lunch was very good showcasing local ingredients. We even got to meet Jose's family.

Cacao plantation tour was just as informative. Learned the cocoa making process. Got to buy some of the coffee & chocolate and happy to support local owner shops.

This was a full day tour and didn't get back to hotel until evening. This was one of the most enjoyable and fun tour we had on our trip.
