I've been to Osaka before and was looking to explore an area outside of the usual high-traffic hot spots. Sure, I could pick a neighborhood and wander by myself, but having Chieko as a guide brought out so much more of the details and history of Karahori. She pointed out how the terrain showed where the old moat had been, where certain sections of the walls remained and many of the authentic old machi-ya remain (some in disrepair and some thriving as reformed buildings housing new businesses). We visited a number of interesting local businesses, from a tatami maker, to a chocolatier to the local grocers and fish mongers on the shotengai. Check out this tour if you want to avoid the same old hot spots and get an authentic view of a different side of town.

Although it is within walking distance from Namba, it is an area with a completely different atmosphere and is worth visiting. Old houses and shopping streets frequented by locals remain, allowing you to see the daily life of Osaka. In addition, there are ruins and wells of the historic Osaka Castle. Chieko is also familiar with the locations of ruins, wells, and shops in hidden places, and she guides us to places that we would not have been able to find on our own.

I didn't know about OSAKA!
My impression after participating can be summed up in one word. Dotonbori, Tsutenkaku, Osaka Castle, Kita, Minami... Osaka's charm isn't just what you see on TV and the internet. Karahori has a lot to offer.

From Osaka's food,
the passion of its artisans,
and even its geographical features and history.
To our guide Chieko, Karahori is a place where she lives. She answered any questions we had cheerfully and promptly.

Three hours experiencing ordinary life in Osaka.
In a way, it's also recommended for people who are tired of sightseeing in OSAKA.

Chieko is a wonderful guide.
We had a great time with her!
She always greeted the townspeople and maintained good relations with them,
introducing us to the charms of the town while taking care not to disturb the residents.
She showed us many fascinating spots, stores, and shopping streets that tourists would never find.
She said there are still many wonderful places she would like to introduce us to, and we would like to participate again if we have the chance.
Highly reccomended!
Thank you so much Chieko for a wonderful time!
