1. Yokohama Chinatown
Yokohama Chinatown is Japan's largest and is known as the world's best Chinese food spot with more than 600 shops in only a 250,000 square meter area. A large number of Chinese stores and restaurants can be found in the narrow and colorful streets of Chinatown. Various events and festivals such as Chinese New Year around the beginning of February are also held at Chinatown.
2. Yokohama Minato Mirai 21
Minato Mirai 21 (みなとみらい 21) is a seaside urban area in central Yokohama whose name means "harbor of the future". It has many large high-rises, including the Landmark Tower, which was Japan's tallest building from 1993 until 2014. The area was a large shipyard until the 1980s, when development began to turn it into a new city center.
3. Sankeien Gardens
The vast classical Japan garden covering over 175,000 square meters, renowned for its seasonal beauty. Sankeien contains many hisotrical houses and buildings that are recognized as being culturally significant by the government.
4. Hase-dera Temple
Said to have been established in the eighth century, Hasedera Temple is home to a giant statue of the Kannon, or goddess of mercy. Explore the grounds and enjoy the history. The temple garden makes for a delightful stroll, particularly in autumn, when the leaves are vivid and fiery, or the spring, when the cherry blossoms are in full glory, ready for photographers.
5. Kotoku-in (Great Buddha of Kamakura)
Designated as Japan's National Treasure, 37 feet high and 121 ton bronze statue of Amitabha Buddha, which is the principal image of Kotoku-in, is commonly known as the Great Buddha of Kamakura.
6. Hokokuji Temple (Takedera Temple)
Founded in 1334, Hokokuji is one of the best spots in Kamakura to enjoy a peaceful walk that will enchant the senses. Set in the hills east of the city, the temple is surrounded by jasmine and cherry trees and carpeted with a thick bloom of flowers. Moss-covered stones give the place a Zen air, inspiring many poems over the years.
