1. Fossen Bratte
Fossen Bratte, also known as Brudesløret, Eikedalsfoss, or Brattefossen, is a significant waterfall near Bergen along the route to Norheimsund in Hordaland. While Steinsdalsfossen draws large crowds, some consider Fossen Bratte even more impressive. The name "Fossen Bratte" translates to "steep waterfall," reflecting its dramatic descent as the Eikedalselva river plunges over 79 meters in a single drop. This natural wonder captivates with its sheer power and beauty, offering a unique attraction in the Bergen region.
2. Steinsdalsfossen Waterfall
Steinsdalsfossen, situated in Kvam municipality in Vestland county, is among Norway's most frequented tourist destinations. Visitors can follow a path from the parking area alongside the waterfall, ascend a hill, and even walk behind the cascade, staying dry as they enter the tumultuous water. This impressive waterfall stands at 46 meters (151 feet) in height, featuring a primary drop of 20 meters (66 feet), with peak water flow during May and June when snow melts. The Fosselva river, which originates from Lake Myklavatnet at an elevation of 814 meters (2,671 feet) above sea level, feeds Steinsdalsfossen. Notably, Emperor Wilhelm II of Germany visited the waterfall annually from 1889 until the outbreak of World War I in 1914. Steinsdalsfossen was formed in 1699 when the river altered its course, creating this remarkable natural wonder.
3. Hardangerfjord
The Hardangerfjord, situated in Vestland county within the Hardanger region, ranks as the world's fourth-longest fjord and Norway's second longest. Stretching 179 kilometers (111 miles) inland from the Atlantic Ocean, it penetrates into Norway's mountainous interior along the Hardangervidda plateau. Approximately around 8,000 BC, as colossal glacial ice began melting, the Scandinavian land mass began rising. This led to the flooding of lower valley parts, resulting in the formation of what we now recognize as the Hardangerfjord. The valley's creation was shaped not only by glacial erosion but also by the force of high-pressure melting water pushing its way beneath the ice.
4. Hardanger Bridge
The Hardanger Bridge, a notable suspension bridge in Hordaland county, spans the Eidfjorden branch of the Hardangerfjord, linking the municipalities of Ullensvang and Ulvik. This bridge supplants a ferry route between Bruravik and Brimnes, significantly reducing travel time between Oslo and Bergen. Notably, it holds the distinction of being Norway's longest suspension bridge, measuring 1,380 meters (4,530 feet) in length, with a main span extending 1,310 meters (4,300 feet).
5. Voringsfossen
Vøringsfossen is the 83rd tallest waterfall in Norway based on total fall. Situated at the head of Måbødalen valley within the municipality of Eidfjord, it boasts a total drop of 182 meters (597 feet) and a main drop of 163 meters (534 feet). This iconic waterfall is widely regarded as one of Norway's most famous and is a prominent tourist attraction along the route from Hardangervidda to the Hardangerfjord.
6. Skjervsfossen Waterfall
Located along the road between Granvin and Voss, Skjervsfossen features twin falls cascading from a height of 150 meters. The waterfall site is thoughtfully designed with a network of paths, stairs, viewpoints, rest areas, picnic spots, and parking facilities. The experience of Skjervsfossen varies depending on your position along the waterfall, the weather, seasons, and water flow. At the base of the waterfall, you can encounter the "Shower," an area where you can feel the immense power of the waterfall. As the name suggests, you might get drenched if there has been heavy rainfall, adding to the dynamic and immersive nature of the experience.

As the largest and most advanced mountain gondola in Northern Europe, it offers a panoramic vista of the surrounding mountains from the top station. Visitors can engage in various activities year-round, including hiking, biking, paragliding, or rappelling during summer, while winter visitors can access the Voss Resort for a full day of snowy fun. The gondola boasts a capacity of 1,069 passengers per hour, with nine cabins accommodating up to 34 passengers each.
