We did see whales. Water was rough but we found them. Tried to swim to them but that did t work. Crew was very nice and worked hard to find the whales which is the whole idea.

Didn't get to swim with whales but we did see couple (mother and baby) and saw dolphins playing around bow wave

Unfortunately, we didn't see any whales. They did give us basically another hour in trying to find them . But we ended up just being sunburnt and beat up from how rough the waves were on our ride back. The crew was sweet but it wasn't the most enjoyable excursion.

By booking this activity, I was expecting to see a whale or whales. Sadly, it wasn't. It was a whale searching. Apparently, there was ONLY ONE whale with a baby in an area of Bora Bora. Our guide was doing what he could to find it, but he didn't manage. He did provide interesting knowledge about this beautiful mammals, but without seeing one, this whole trip felt like a scam.
I think it should be clearly written in the description of this activity that there is a chance of NOT finding whale(s). Also, the fact that all the comments below are clearly positive, someone who is choosing to pay for it should get enough information about pros en cons of it.
I also have a remark about the boat. Because this experience takes over 3 hours, and you still stay around the atoll, you have to use a small boat, where is no chance to use a restroom. It means that you have to choose between taking a sip of water or having a full bladder. I must admit that it wasn't a pleasant experience. Sure, you could jump into the water and pee in front of everybody in the boat. But again, you have to feel comfortable to do so.
That's why my review score is 2 out of 5. Mostly due to commitment and passion with what our guide made this tour.

Amazing boat trip to see whales outside the reef of Bora Bora. The boat is well equipped, clean and comfortable (snorkeling gear, towels and refreshing included).
Our guide/marine biologist Virginie was really friendly and explained us about whale lifestyle and how to respect them while we were observing them. Thanks to Virginie and our captain Chris. I recommend !

We went out and the Guides were good but there were no whales. They try but it was a let down. I understand they are wild animals but it ends up being a really expensive boat ride. They did offer water, soft drinks, and juice. There were no meals, no whales and just a long boat ride to nowhere. I would caution anyone taking this tour and be prepared to not see them. Apparently it hasn’t been a good week for seeing whales. Maybe you will get lucky and see them, and then maybe you won’t. It was a lot of money to gamble on and lose for this excursion. I would do this in Moorea or somewhere else for the time being.

If you go to Bora and it is whale season you have to do this! And choose these guys at Bora Bora Whale Watching as they do an amazing job.
Of course there is never a guarantee when you go whale watching but we were lucky to see them on our first try though we did not jump into the water because of their rapid swim (too fast for us!) but on the second try yeahhhhhhhhh we go to swim with these big guys!
Virginie, our whale watching guide, was super knowledgable about whale behaviors and general info. She went beyond what was expected of her to find whales, wether moms and their babies or "dating" couples. She used an underwater mic to spot singing males and truly was almost happier than us when we go to see the whales!
Robert, the pilot, did a fantastic job at surfing the waves to give us a feeling of a flat surface when it was not.
If you are thirsty or hungry fear not as those guys have thought about it all :)

could't have asked for a better time whale watching. Captain and mate did all they could to find whales including using the hydrophone to listen for them. find them they did a mom and her calf. got to swim with them.

Where do I start!. We actually booked last minute through the hotel and could not have been happier with this group. Virginie was amazing and had so much knowledge of the whales. We actually where the only 2 on the afternoon tour. We were about an hour in and she located a male whale singing. We got in the water and swam for about an hour watching the whale breach every 20 minutes. I cannot begin to tell you how great Virginie is. We had such good conversation about the whales on the way back to the hotel. She really tried hard to locate a whale/whales, so that she could make your experience memorable. We know it is never guaranteed but it was well worth it for us. We had the time of our lives. The waves were strong but we are great swimmers and it could not have been better for us. Virginie and Robert always tried hard to make our trip comfortable and provided everything we needed. This is the best company to experience this tour with. They are very kind and patient with everyone. Virginie's enthusiasm about the whales was infectious. You will not go wrong by booking with Bora Bora Whale Watching... This is the best tour group ever!!!! She speaks french and pretty good English and tries hard to accomodate every one. I cannot express enough about this group. AMAZING!!

My husband and I booked this last minute after hearing other guests at our resort describe their experience on this tour. It turned out to be the most amazing thing ever! Our guide was very knowledgable and we learned so much about these beautiful creatures. The boat was comfortable and it was especially nice having a cover for shade. The two-person team (a guide and boat driver) took great care to find the whales and instruct us how to swim with them respectfully when we slipped into the water. We were thrilled when a calf swam directly below us, then circled back with his mom underneath. It was an epic experience and even our guide was excited about seeing the baby so close. Highly, HIGHLY recommend this tour with Aquabike Adventure.
