This was a great way to experience some of the countryside near Rethymno via the team at Uncharted Escapes. We set off from our pick up point, close to our hotel, looking forward to a day of sights and tastes of this part of Crete.

Our first stop was Klados winery, a small vineyard for a tour & tasting (breakfast wine, anyone? 😄) before jumping back in the Land Rover for a bit of bouncing around to reach Vosakos Monastery for panoramic views. The drive was made all the more enjoyable with our entertaining guide providing good information on the local plants, especially the cultivation of olives (this farmer has done well, this one…not so much etc.!)

After the Monastery, it was on to the olive oil factory for an informative tour & tasting, and then a short (2 minutes!) drive to Melidoni for lunch at a pleasant taverna and an introduction to Dakos 😋 before we returned back through villages and the coast road back to our hotel, back in plenty of time for dip in the pool to reflect on a day well spent. 🙂
