We visited the National Museum. For Canadians the price is high 12$USD. There are many repetitions of objects from the temples. The narration of Cambodia's past life is interesting.

This is something that should not be missed. It should be done before you do any trips to the temples around Siem Reap as it gives you a great insight into the history, the style of construction of the temples and also the statues. It gives a fuller understanding of what you are looking at, particularly if you go to the temples with a good guide as he will complement what you have learned at the Museum.

Luckily I had visited the museum in Phnom Penh which I believe is much smaller but gave me a taste of what this Museum would offer. A must see when in Siem Reap. I was advised that it will be re-opening on the 1st November 2022 ( a covid issue)

We discovered this museum after we had visited the Angkor temples, and it would have been better to have seen it beforehand in order to equip ourselves with more information prior to our visits. So I'd recommend a visit here before going to the temples. And we had just an hour - far too little time to take in everything at this fairly new, well-structured museum. Allow 2-3 hours. You'll discover a great deal about the history of the area and about the temples, and find out what a fascinating history Cambodia has.

I went here in Feb to see and got the information before the temples tour. It has many rooms at the down stair and up stair. In the gallery of 1000 Buddhas there are many Buddha statues collected from many temples. In the museum also many histories written about many gods of Hindu and Buddhism. I got a lot of information related to the temples.
