Embark on a 1-hour journey into Belle Meade with its Journey to Jubilee historic tour. Join us as we take an honest look at the lives and stories of the African Americans who were enslaved, and later employed, at Belle Meade with intentional respect and empathy. Our Journey to Jubilee tour is intended to honor the legacy and sacrifices of the individuals held in legal bondage on this property from 1807 until emancipation in 1865, as well as to explore the complexities of their new freedom in the post-Civil War years. Using a unique approach that includes reading aloud from primary sources, and engaging dialogue with the audience, this experience creates a forum for exploring the history of slavery in a new way. Enjoy a complimentary Wine Tasting after your tour and access to the Grounds for a self-guided tour.
Please Note: This tour is guided, but it does not include access to the main Mansion portion of the estate. Please book your Guided Mansion Tours separately.

We had a wonderful time here. The grounds are beautiful! We took the Mansion tour and the Jubilee tour. Both were informative and the guides were very knowledgeable, friendly and eager to answer questions. The wine tasting was great with very good wine and the live music in the garden was an extra bonus. I highly recommend visting!

This is a beautiful spot in Nashville. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the slave history at Belle Meade and shared the good and the bad. I gave it a 4 and not a 5 because I wish it had been a longer tour in walking the grounds.
We ate lunch and sat under the covered patio relaxing afterwards and it was wonderful.

I found Toms tour informative and interactive in an easy way
As an Irish person i did this tour to try to gain an insight into what happened in the years up to the civil war and the years post emancipation
Someone said they would have liked only facts pertaining to Belle Meade but i found his talk extremely informative and he was happy to answer all the questions asked
As a foreigner with limited knowledge I found him to be an excellent guide
I arrived early and enjoyed wandering through the grounds of Belle Meade , lots to see

The history of the family and property. Wish there had been chairs for the walking part of tour when we stopped for the leaders oratory in several places.

Insightful and moving tour with a focus on the experiences of slaves at Belle Meade, particularly children jockeys and women. Our expert guide, Anastasia, really emphasised and brought to life the horrific experiences of those enslaved at Belle Meade and other similar establishments. Important messages that everyone should ponder on.

It was an eye opening experience. I am glad I had the chance to hear about the history of the slaves in that area. If you are in Nashville, you should take the time to join the tour your won’t be disappointed.

We did the Journey to Jubilee tour. It was incredibly informative and eye opening. We would absolutely have done the Mansion tours well if time permitted. We could have easily spent 3-4 hours there looking around the grounds as well.
We had lunch there and sat on the deck which was pleasant.
Jeff was a great tour guide, all the staff we interacted with were lovely from the moment we walked in to getting lunch at their restaurant at the end.
We had unfortunately been running late and called to let them know we were getting there right at 12:30 (When tour was set to start). She let us know she would be waiting for us, she had bracelets ready and briskly walked us up to meet the rest of the tour. ** Note- get there 30 minutes before tour as asked in the confirmation email**

I would have preferred the speaker to give the facts only about what occurred at Belle Mead, and how the Afro American people were treated prior to the Civil War. Allow the audience to judge for themselves about that time in history. I don’t want the presenter’s opinion I only want facts. Thank you!

We enjoyed the tour and the stories. The lack of facts and documentation surprised me. The farm was a stud farm and not a crop farm so perhaps less typical. Also only a very few of the slaves were mentioned due to lack of documentation. The guide had strong feelings on the subject and did her best to bring it alive for us. Well done.
