Join us for a remarkable and spectacular demonstration of the Glass Masters of "The Glass Cathedral" which is dedicated to the love of working with Murano Glass. The most complete glass blowing demonstration on the island of Murano surrounded in a one of a kind ambiance ( inside a former XIIth century Church which was a glass factory already in 1826). You will be surrounded by soft music and the beautiful works of Murano Glass.  Here, you will be able to observe the masters at work  and watch as they create two original pieces before your eyes.   The demonstration is 25 minutes long and you may be able to sip a good glass of Prosecco or have a drink while enjoying your stay with us.

This was an amazing experience! You get to make a cup, bowl or vase in your chosen colours, in a small group (we had five plus two supervising parents). Our teacher was super friendly and helpful and it felt laid back and relaxed. You can pick up your item next day (or later that day if you choose an early slot) or have it shipped for an extra charge.

A consise show of the making of glass structures and recorded information in 4 languages as we watched. The glass master was very concentrated and interesting to watch. We definitely learned a lot about the history and techniques of Murano glassmaking. Short and sweet!

Only 10€ to have that demonstration is a gift, it was interesting and the master is impressive.
I will definitely come back with my 8 years old daughter as it's a very good educative activity.

I felt welcomed and taken care of. The demonstration was amazing and the voice over was in English. Loved the drinks and atmosphere.

Artisan was amazing. He would only work with Pink Floyd playing, which only added to the experience. Thoroughly enjoyed the demonstration.

Watching glass blowing was the highlight of our kids stay in Venice. Wish the gentleman would have talked through his process but there was an audio before the demonstration started the explained a little.

I've read many reviews about day trips to Murano and Burano that include glass blowing tours...and that many of those glass blowing tours were terribly short and disappointing. With that in mind, I chose to visit Murano (and later Burano) independently. In short, my hotel offered me a free ride to Murano including a glass blowing demonstration, so I got to experience two demonstrations during my visit.

My first demonstration was at a glass factory and while the demonstration was very nice and lasted about 20 minutes. There were several glass makers but while one was making pieces for a chandelier the glass maker we were focused on made a cup and a cool horse. This experience included a salesman dressed in a snappy suit and a long, slow stroll with said salesman through their many, many (many!) showrooms. It was a good experience, but I could certainly do without the (very overpriced) sales portion.

My second glass demonstration was at The Glass Cathedral. I truly enjoyed this demonstration much more - the glass maker created a cool looking plate, a cup and a swan. The demonstration lasted about 20-25 minutes that started with an audio narration for about 5 minutes followed by music for the rest of the demo. Some might think it was too "theatrical" but I thoroughly enjoyed the audio history of glass, the island of Murano, and the cathedral building itself. And I loved the music that followed...solid hits from the 80s and 90s...Sting, Toto...for me it was awesome.

Oh, and the best part is that there were no salespeople and no pressure to buy (there was a very modest selection of glass creations you could purchase - I actually wished there was a bigger selection as I really liked the idea of purchasing something I just saw created).

Overall, I'd recommend skipping the day long tours, head to Murano (and Burano) yourself, and do this Glass Cathedral demonstration.

We loved this demonstration. It was a close up view of the glass making process. We would definitely visit again.

The whole experience is worth it. The demo, the music. You can enjoy drinks, then stroll around and take beautiful photos without rushing in a place that is completely different from what is in Murano and you are not pressured to buy anything. A true local heritage.
