Absolutely excellent Iceland circular tour with Hlif our driver guide. Good range of sites to visit to get a real flavour of Iceland. Good hotel choice for single night stops.
Hlif gave us ample time at all the sites visited. Good food in all hotels plus the lamb stew/soups at the gas stations was a bonus. Thanks Hlif!! Well paced plenty of comfort stops, We're that old. All the airport transfer worked(Flybus)
We didn't miss the WiFi that failed on the coach. You can't see Iceland whilst looking at a screen anyhow.
Thoroughly recommended.

Well organised & lots of fun. The tour was informative & we saw a lot of the country. Great experiences. Breakfast is the only included meal but lots of options for other meals.

I was amazed at how beautiful the country is! Our guide, Simone de Graff, was very pleasant, informative, patient, accommodating, fun, and helpful with putting on clamp-ons for walking on ice. I may return to see what Iceland looks like in summer.

Cannot fault the entire trip. The guide (yes you Simone de Greef) informed us, entertained us and ensured the whole excursion ran like clockwork without it seeming overly regimented.
Would recommend to all in an instant.

Such a lovely tour around Iceland. Got a little bit of everything—it was the perfect length and never too tiring. Easy and efficient traveling. Our guide, Martina, was absolutely amazing. She cannot be praised enough for her knowledge, attitude, and constant friendliness/helpfulness.

We just got home from our tour and we had a great time! Simone was our tour guide and she was very knowledgeable about everything Iceland. She knew so much it was amazing. And she was fluent in Icelandic, Dutch and English. We had a small group of 6 which was perfect, especially with the COVID concerns. Simone expertly handled the one member of our group that wanted the tour to be all about him. We were able to see so much in such a short time. Tell Simone, thanks from Carol and Rick!

This year I decided to tick Iceland off my bucket list and after a lot of research chose GJ Travel based on the great reviews I found. They did not disappoint! From the very beginning our guide Thor made sure that we missed out on nothing. He adjusted our itinerary depending on the weather there were 6 of us in our group and every day it just got better and better. The scenery was awesome and Thor's amazing local knowledge seemed to know no limits everything from sagas to volcanos he answered every question. An extremely professional and well run tour I would highly recommend for anyone heading to Iceland.

Fabulous small group tour early December 2019 with GJ Travel and Thor as our guide/driver. Thor enlightened us with his knowledge of Iceland’s history, legends and folklore, we even got to meet one of the 12 Yule Lads – ‘Door Sniffer’ at Dimmuborgir!

The trip was extremely well organised and Thor went the ‘extra mile’ to ensure our trip was informative and enjoyable; even getting off the beaten track for that elusive photo.

His interest in photography, particularly the Northern Lights was an extra bonus and we have the photos to prove it!

Would highly recommend GJ Travel in Iceland.

7 nights/8 days. We were a couple joined by four others with our tour guide, Erin (English spelling) who was knowledgeable, friendly, punctual and went out of her way to accommodate the group. We felt we had a personal guide throughout the week. The coach was comfortable and Erin made frequent breaks.

Itinerary - Excellent. We were out of the hotel around 9 am most days (a couple of earlier days) and at our next hotel by 4-4.30 pm most days. We made a couple of unscheduled stops including a nighttime northern lights junket which was the only opportunity we had to see them due to weather conditions. Good walking shoes and rain/winter gear are a must. It was quite windy (strong enough to push you over) in a few spots. There is a lot to do/see in Reyjevik. We did the 'free' walking tour which is highly recommended.

Hotels - Variable. The Icelandair Natura in Reyjevik was the planned first and last night hotel. Luckily, they switched the whole group to the Marina hotel downtown the first night which was a 'superior' grade and the difference showed the rest of the week. The last night was still the Natura and it is not acceptable for anyone wanting to get into the city. The dinner option was limited to an expensive buffet and there are no other dining options within walking distance. There is construction going on all around the hotel. The other Icelandair hotels were fine - basic accommodation, no amenities/facilities, good breakfast buffets. We tried to go to the public swimming pools whenever possible which were great. Bring your own towel. The 'independent' hotels were a mixed bag. Hotel Hofn and Hotel Sel-Myvatn had better than average food options, although the latter's beds were quite soft. The second-last hotel, Hotel Eyafjallajokull had a very limited breakfast buffet although the evening meal before was quite good. Typical 'tourist class hotel' means no in-room amenities (except a kettle), basic accommodation with typically one restaurant and no other facilities.

Dining - Of course, it's on your own and is quite expensive by Canadian standards. Most hotel dining rooms offered fish plus meat options and a few specialties like langoustines in Hofn. Burgers were always available. Not much for vegetarians/vegans. Lunch options on the road were also more limited. We brought some cheese and crackers. Duty-free alcohol is available in arrivals at Reyjevik airport and we bought some excellent Icelandic beer which we then brought with us. (No bar fridge in the room but we reverted to student days and hung them outside our window in a bag).

Transfers - Chaotic! We arrived at Reyjavik airport and waited almost 30 minutes for the FlyBus that goes to the bus station then waited another 15 minutes for the 'pink route' shuttle to go to our hotel. As mentioned, the first night was downtown which was worth the wait! The return transfers to the airport went more smoothly.

Money - Credit/debit cards are accepted everywhere - even small convenience stores and the public pools. It is not worth getting Icelandic currency.

Tipping - Generally not needed since service is added but it would be good to have better direction about tipping the tour guide. We did.

Highly recommended.
